What's new

STILL can't play my MK9!!!

I'm sorry if this isn't the place for this but i've found NOTHING online pertaining to this, i can't be the only one. ever since the last update it's been freezing and restarting my ps3. i've been trying a couple times a day since the patch hit, i dont even know how long it's been now. it's so frustrating i like this game and i want to play it and now i can't. does ANYONE know any sure fire ways to get this update?? i even deleted my data and nothing. i can't play it. i feel like i spent a hundred dollars and now my product is completely useless. any advice before i just sell it or something??

have you spoken to anyone with Sony or even NetherRealm?

not successfully. sony always gives me vague troubleshooting techniques that i've tried. and i've heard nothing at all from nrs. i know they have a million people talking to them all the time but hey i'm already pretty upset. I already personally believe that there's nothing they can do so if they just said so at least i can stop asking around.

have you tried booting the game offline and then plugging in a cord/connecting after you get past the title screen? for some reason that is what i have to do now. that should at least get you into "extras" so you can download the online pack and maybe fix your issue.

I don't have an answer because I haven't run into this issue on my PS3, but the good news is that if the problem is truly patch related, the new patch will be out July 5th and hopefully that will solve your issues.

Do you mean that it freezes at loading screen and you have to restart your PS3?

Well, it used to happen to me. I could only play offline to not get any lag (and therefore freezin while loading screens). Last time I tried to play online against a friend, the game froze. I restarted, didn't restart for 35 minutes so I had to unplug it. I turned on the PS3, took a bit to load my users, went onto the XMB menu and saw no disc to play even when my disc was in it. Switched games, no luck. Switched users, no luck. Switched both, no luck.

So I go and try to play MK2. Select Sub-Zero and game freezes. I restarted the PS3 and now there's no MK2. It's just a blank empty space where it should be. I can log into the PSN, I just can't play anything, lol
I'm searchin for an external HDD to save all my **** and format it. I'll let you know if I have luck. Otherwise I believe it's the Bluray laser thingy I'll have to buy for about 80$.

So yeah, my advice would be to not to touch anything if you have the same problem as I have. Hopefully your problem is a whole different thing.

sounds to me like your HDD is corrupted. you can't transfer them either. simply going to 'system restore' in settings will not fix this. what you will need to do, most likely, is reset your ps3 into safe mode...(hold power on button until it beeps 3 separate times and turns itself back off, and then hold down the power once more until it beeps an additional 3 times). it will now boot up in safe mode and you can do a complete system restore. *WARNING* you WILL lose any and all data saved to the PS3 if you do this, but it should fix your problem and you can always just re-download all your crap. this is also a good time to get rid of that crappy stock HDD and go buy yourself a cheap upgrade. :)

cross your fingers that it is a corrupted HDD and not a failing GFX card.

God dammit THAT is harsh. I was guessin the HDD being corrupted as well. Didn't know about the safe boot, though. I'm hoping I don't have to redownload everything given the fact that I've gome got some kool games that I bought with those 150$ accounts (which I payed 15 bucks for) that were on the webz many months ago.

just boot up your ps3 before you do it and log on and de-activate your account. then after you clean the HDD you can put it back on and re-download all your PSN purchases for free. also what is this about $150 accounts for $15? i need me some of that.

A few months ago people were selling pre-done accounts with 150$ on their e-wallet for 15$-30$. You could check them on eBay and it'd last only ONE login. Once you logged in, you'd have to download everything you could. I believe they were from stolen credit cards because I cannot log into those accounts anymore. And that is why I don't want to format the HDD. I'd lose the accounts and with it MK2, TM2, RE2, RE3, etc etc.

Lots of minigames!
