UPDATE: EMP|Tom Brady will not be attending the Video X Games. As he mentioned last night at the Next Level Battle Circuit, he missed the opportunity to get his tickets due to being "out of contact" with everyone. He stated that there was nothing shady on VXG's part and that it was his fault. Being also right after EVO Tom also said he just needed a rest.
-----

This is just a reminder that starting this Thursday the 25th, the Video X Games in the Caribbean will be starting up. The Video X Games went slightly under our radar last year but made quite the aftermath for the Mortal Kombat community when we were unexpectedly introduced to a local names "Gross". Shortly after the Mortal Kombat Evo Champ, Perfect Legend took Evo he was taken by surprise. Gross' Sektor won the tournament against Perfect Legend, thus making a rapidly fast name for himself.

After the Video X Games past, the dust would not settle quick. In fact this entire year Rolando of the Video X Games has been working tirelessly to promote this year's Video X Games by flying multiple players out through winning tournaments. Just a few names to mention in the Mortal Kombat/Injustice community after EMP|VXG Tom Brady and EMP|VXG REO along with many others. In short, expect lots of crazy action as these players are not only traveling to compete, but also take da'beach!

Although, to our current knowledge there is not tournament schedule or line-up yet (including a stream) but rest assured we will keep everyone as informed as we can.

Do you know of someone going that we don't? Let us know!

The information you have is incorrect and misleading. Perhaps there was a misunderstanding. The Registration of $120 covers venue, party and tournament. If you don't have that then you can just pay the venue of $40 and $10 per game for the tournament. The $120 is the flat rate to cover the majority of the events hosted by VxG.

Everything else is pretty much on point. You spend about $1,200 to $1,500. For a Island vacation, video game tournament of $50k on fighting games alone, great food, 4 nights of partying, cosplay pagent, Casino Royale, Concerts by international performing artist, then the beach party and award ceremony on Sunday night.... hmmmm... even 2k doesn't sound unreasonable.

Here is my question... I burned a lot of money on Evo for most of my players and all they got was to enter a tournament. For those who didn't purchase tickets early they got to watch in another room. Then there is Vegas which is just gambling, parties are not free.... nor cheap. You burn about the same amount because tickets let's just say are about the same price. $550. I know for sure the food is not the same... neither in quality or price... both are horrible in Vegas vs. St. Maarten.

I'll tell you what, I'll make a series for VxG called "Experience VxG in St. Maarten" I'll let you judge which 2k is worth spending on. ;)

European qualifier winners in London got dicked over for VxG. Ryan Hart and WhiteBlack had their trips to VxG cancelled. After WhiteBlack flew over from France to take part.

Lame, was looking forward to seeing them compete.

Regarding cost... obviously it's not going to be cheap, especially if you're from the East Coast.

At EVO I was very good... my wife and I walked to a Wallgreens where we bought some dry breakfast goods and some bottled water for less than $21.00. It was quite the hike and inconvenient, but guess what... we saved by doing that. We gambled like $20 for the fun of it and ate at the Tequila restaurant in Bally's three times totally like $40 per meal including tip.

Planning ahead was the biggest plus though... we booked our hotel and flight months prior to allow us to save up again to cover other costs. What I like most about Vegas at night is the sights... there is a ton to see... so bring a camera.

Regarding St. Maarten you have to think of it as a very unique experience. It's a vacation AND a tournament. What other events have you been to where the beach in right there?

I'm looking forward to VXG! Although I am unable to attend... I am very anxious to see what goes down in MK and Injustice!

Soup's trolling: Priceless. For others, there's Master Card.

I think I am the only person who travels to tournaments to ONLY play in the tournament and could care less about anything else when I am there.

I have not once left my hotel at a tournament to do anything but go eat.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I just don't GAF.
This. I've driven 6 hours to Philly on three separate occasions. Although there isn't much else to do than to spend the whole day at the venue, I wouldn't imagine myself doing anything else. I can't even imagine some of the top players partying at VxG if they plan to win. Look at PL last year. Now I know people say it was an excuse, but the last thing I would do at a tournament that I am taking seriously is get loaded the night before.
