string-dash-string-dash-string juggling

Having a little trouble with these kinds of juggles (using Liu Kang, so I'm mainly talking about B+3,1,2 repeated), so I could use having some points cleared up...

1) When dialing in a string, you can get ahead of the animation and it will buffer the inputs for you. You won't lose anything by just hammering it in as fast as your fingers will do it.

2) But: it won't buffer the dash at all, so the second 'forward' should be input just after (not before) the last hit of the string connects, and that will cancel the rest of the string's animation. It works exactly like a special move would for cancelling purposes.

3) If you start dialing the next string in the juggle too soon, you'll interrupt the dash and stop short.

^True or false on those points?

I believe it's true. I've been playing skarlet and you can't dial nearly any of her stuff, so it's a real pain trying to get the dashes out. Dash cancelled daggers is fucking difficult. I hate it. But i LOVE IT.

I found it near impossible for me to do these types of combos with the controller. I bit the bullet and bought a fightstick. Much, much easier.

1. This is true, every string can be dialed as fast as possible, even ones with 5 inputs.
2. Yep, I think that is right too, you can't buffer dashes until the string has landed. Except a point about the end, special moves CAN be dialed in as fast as possible. But it often leads to unexpected results because of buffering... you can try this with Mileena: j1234bf2. It should all come out even though you can let go of the controller before it's halfway done.
3. Yes. This is dash cancelling and is actually required for some combos like Liu Kang's.

Funny thing: People get flying kicks in the middle of Liu Kang's combos because they try to dash cancel before it is finished.

Regarding 2: you can only dial in the special ahead of time if the normal cancels. So it's a no-go for Liu Kang's B+3, 2, 1. And as near as I can figure, you can't actually cancel a normal into a dash, so I was wrong there.

Regarding 3: actually, my usual problem is cancelling from the dash into the normal too soon

Incidentally, I cannot do this stuff online at all unless I've got a nigh-perfect connection. And if I do get a good connection, the B+3, 2, 1 repeates pretty much guarantees rage quits, lol... derpiest-looking practical combo in the game.

Thanks for making this thread, even though I confirmed what you are asking, I didn't know any of this until you asked. Not knowing why a dash didn't come out or having to time a string/special to what was happening on screen was so random and frustrating. This should really be posted in every guide for this game.
