The Perfect Invitational - Online Tournament Circuit for Injustice: Gods Among Us

Oh boy! PL should've known better. The FGC, specifically the MKC, are the cheapest bunch of people on the Internet. Whenever "money" is involved--you can forget about it. Everyone's perspective is so skewed.

1. What does it matter how much PL pays himself or any help that's involved?
2. For those who would do EVERYTHING for free--ha! You're a fool. Time and Aggravation is worth something--KNOW YOUR WORTH.

To really make this work, PL can't do this himself. I suggest at least 1-2 other notable community streamers get involved to help stream and monitor brackets/attendance. Which, I don't care how "free" they'd be willing to do it--I want anyone putting in effort/work to be compensated accordingly.

I haven't played in a fighting game tournament in nearly 10 years, so I'd give it a shot considering it's on XBL.

I've played in a few online tourneys and it seems like a nightmare for the TO. It always seems like a good idea in theory but then it turns into a huge mess. Be ready for a bumpy road the first couple of tournaments while getting the kinks worked out of the system. Best of luck.

When I first started playing MK I was on amother site then and would run several online tourneys. I enjoyed doing it but it was stressful, constantly chasing up ppl and this would be for 30 man events.

Wish I thought of charging now, so good on pl I say.

lmfao@ the $5 venue fee for an online tourney, i cant even tell if he's serious or not..

The idea is great but the venue fee shit needs to go, or reduced to somewhere around $2 (and even then its still scummy imo but w/e lol)

Hell yes im down! I will represent oregon because im the only one playing this game that lives in this shitty state
???
Idk where you've been at but we actually have a scene for this game in the Eugene/Salem area, a few of us also went to EVO to compete in injustice and MK.

This will be properly organized once I have the right amount of interest.

Also I would cap the tournament at 64 people.

From my experience in Dota and Broodwar tournaments it would be prudent to have standbys. Then again in those games the competition was across continents as well as east vs west.

To everyone else questioning the fee if you want that soprt of experience just take part in a ladder. Gamers who move beyond ladder play into tournament play need a prize pool to win over.

It is impossible to run a tournament without cash flow. When tournaments with prize pools started out they gathered money from tournament entrants. As a competitive scene developed sponsors were acquired. The FGC doesn't have a worthy online tournament scene to speak of. This is just a baby step every online scene has to go through.

It's prudent to question how much of a percentage the TO takes as well as whether or not you can afford competing like this but it's impractical to expect this to be ran as charity if you want to see this happen on a regular basis.
