lulled immediately when i saw this in the OP "- $15 entry. $10 goes to the pot."
try a real job
This was actually a funny read.Perfect Legend just inboxed me. He said that the $5 will go into supporting my petition:

It's for a good cause now, guys. Please enter.
I think this is more out of principle. From my point of view I would like to participate against some great players but also paying some $$ to enjoy my own living room isn't too appealing. Sure people pay large $$ to go to events like EVO, food, room and board, etc..but what that money really gets you is an experience that many don't have the luxury of enjoying. What's the problem with taking $5? It's a cool idea that's already generated a lot of interest, he's doing all the work, and it's completely optional. I'd enter if I knew I wouldn't get destroyed.
That's a good idea, but you would have to figure out people gunning for 2nd/3rd to farm weekly loot. What do you guys think of this idea? "Winner of each tournament is banned from entering the next however the winner will be entered in a invitational to play against other winners of future events." This would be so people don't keep entering and just making a lot of loot off of people or should I allow the winner to keep entering to defend their crown?
Change it to like $2 or something, making a third of all the money go to you for setting up a challonge bracket is a bit extortionate. If its a big problem then don't sign up.
I would do this for free if I had streaming hardware. When I loved Smash, I would organize Smash tourneys in my college with no venue fee because the school let me rent their TVs and room for free. I just loved playing and bolstering the support for the game, and if I'm not paying anything, why would I get paid? It can be obnoxious to TO a whole tournament (I've done ones bigger than 64 people), but it's definitely not $320 obnoxious, especially online where you basically fire up Tio and XSplit and you're done.Doing it for the "community" freely is the dumbest bs anyone could ever say. 90% of every video game community doesnt deserve jack shit cuz they dont do anything to help anyone but themselves. People who try to help out the entire group always get bitten in the ass, at least the money can lessen the bite lol
Organising on online tournament is hardly worth being paid for though.there are many things in this world that can be done for free, but only a fool would do so. I'm new here, and I can already tell you what a nightmare dealing with random people online is. You think its so easy to set this up, keep it running smoothly with no headaches? no way.
It doesn't matter if doing this doesnt cost him any physical money, it costs him time and headaches to keep things organized and fair. If paying him 5 bucks keeps the tournament fair and honest and allows it to grow in the future then it seems well worth it to me. Making money gives him incentive to do things right and not just trash the whole thing when times get difficult.

...So you stopped reading at the end of his post.Stopped reading when I saw entry $15, but only $10 goes to the pot.
I think the best idea would be if you dedicated yourself to organising it and not competing in it, BUT organising it PROPERLY (Key point), then it would be acceptable to take some money out of it.If its $2 people will complain still but I have no problem putting it to $2. This is a rough draft thread anyway to gauge how people feel.
On top of that I asked if people wanted me to participate or not I have no problem not playing in it.
I knew this reply was coming lol...So you stopped reading at the end of his post.
