The perfect fighting game model?

Do you think fighting games being free to play (pay for chars) is a good idea?

This would be great for people who don't play the game competitively.

For the rest of us, how are we supposed to learn the match up? How are we supposed to learn the tools each character has? Until you find a dude who's bought the thing? Do we have to pay extra because we like to play the game at a higher level?

Yup.

That was one of the problems I pointed out and said that you should be able to play against all chars in training. If players can't get match ups there's no point in playing or the game.

I voted yes. I must add that I only think it's good as long as there are more orthodox alternatives to playing the full game, eg. buying the full game on disk or digital download.

It would be nice if they took a League of Legends approach to it; have a different 'free' character to play every week.

No, we don't pay extra; the casuals pay less.

For fun, lets look at how much Injustice would REALLY cost if you wanted to buy EVERYTHING that is currently available(and more than likely will be available in the future) using the prices currently established at retail today as the template.
  • The base product was 24 character for $60 at launch (collector's edition was $99)
  • Lets say there will be 12 extra characters at $5 a piece - another $60 (which if you got the season passes you'd get $15 off - $45)
  • Plus 12+ skin packages for all characters all at $3 a peice - $36
Total: $156

With Collector's Edition, new Total: $196

A F2P model where you could spend anywhere from $0 to $200 would be fine IMO, and of course if you wanted to get everyting it would get pricey, but the bottom line is that if you did that, THAT WOULD BE YOUR CHOICE...and choice is always good. :D

Currently to get all the characters, just the characters, for Injustice you have to pay at least $80. unless you found a sale where you could save a lot of cash - $30 sale on base, $15 season pass - $45. If you are a tournament player who just wants all the characters you can still get off with a decent price (going by the Injustice model), it's only if you want EVERYTHING - skins, and other what nots - where you get into the really pricey area.

Is there not an arcade or ladder mode of some sort in this game? I assume you could learn the match-up to some extent in that. But what if (as previously stated) you had access to all characters in training mode just not other game modes? Problem solved?

No. A lot of casuals bought Injustice, and it is the causals (I'm assuming) who are buying the majority of the skin packs and other stuff. Casuals usually spend more than tournament players because all the tournament player cares about (again assuming) is the characters and getting better with them. It is the super-fan who will end up spending the most, everyone else will fall somewhere in the middle.

Then you would just pay full price. Their giving the option to buy characters separately. You can just buy the full game like you bought IGAU or MK.
Right. I don't understand why people are getting mad about buying the full version of the game like they have done for the past 20 years, lol. People seem to think that the only way to get the game is DL the free version, then pay $160 for all the other chars. God I hate everyone.
