Matches will be 3/5 or 4/7 all the way through.

--Online tournaments

- - First tournament 64 player cap
- - 3/5 match all the way through
- - Top 8 match stream
- - Top 3 payout 50/30/20
- - $15 entry. $10 goes to the pot.

Wait, 15 entry 10 to pot? Where does the 5 go? To your pocket? You arnt running a venue, you are typing names into a Challonge bracket. Im sure a ton of people would do that for free. Put all 15 towards the pot.

I'm streaming the tournament, managing the bracket, making sure people are playing on time and distributing prizes. I'm supposed to do all of this for free? Seriously you are complaining about $5 dollars? So you rather pay hundreds to thousands to travel to a venue pay for food, entry, hotel and flight/bus/train. But you are complaining about $5 dollars?

I'd organize a challonge bracket, stream top 8 and DQ people who don't show up when I contact them and make a paypal transfer to winners for 320 a tournament online.

Insuperable

My mom tells me I'm pretty
$5 venue fee for an online tournament. Hold dat shit. Politics over all. I like the idea of region lock online tournaments. Was tired of seeing WC vs EC connections online lmao

How is it a 15$ fee and only 10$ goes to the pot?

Hahaha. Dis guy. $320 richer (if it caps 64 players) from doing stuff he could do for free. The great Sir AntMan approves of his style.

-Goes on tirade against greedy TO's and venue costs
-Puts 1/3rd of entry fee into pocket to manage something anyone (myself included) would do for free

Need to make a scumbag PL meme.
The difference

you wouldn't put up 640 dollars to pay out in 70/20/10 fashion now would you?

Money brings the talent. As you can see by the top players who never post .... showing interest.

Hes not putting up anything. This is pure profit for him. And money does bring talent. As a matter of fact, if all the money went to the prize pool there would be...wait for it....MORE MONEY!

Its a cool idea and im 100% behind it, but there are tons of people out there who would do all the organizational and logistical things associated with a tournament like this for free, sweetening the pot and thus by your logic, the talent.

there are many things in this world that can be done for free, but only a fool would do so. I'm new here, and I can already tell you what a nightmare dealing with random people online is. You think its so easy to set this up, keep it running smoothly with no headaches? no way.

It doesn't matter if doing this doesnt cost him any physical money, it costs him time and headaches to keep things organized and fair. If paying him 5 bucks keeps the tournament fair and honest and allows it to grow in the future then it seems well worth it to me. Making money gives him incentive to do things right and not just trash the whole thing when times get difficult.

Doing it for the "community" freely is the dumbest bs anyone could ever say. 90% of every video game community doesnt deserve jack shit cuz they dont do anything to help anyone but themselves. People who try to help out the entire group always get bitten in the ass, at least the money can lessen the bite lol

But heres the thing. How does PL getting paid to do this even impact the problem of people showing up late? A random dude like me running the brackets can DQ or message someone all the same.

Those stupid fools at volunteer ambulance and fire corps. What are they thinking? Sometime you just have to take a leap of faith and do things for a community.

I'll do it for 4 dollars a pop going into my pocket, 11 into the pot and I'll even stream matches prior to top 8. Who wants to sign up?

ok so 1 involves saving lives which people are prone to be thankful for, the other is for organizing a tournament which more people are prone to get mad about rather then be thankful.....

I'm sure a whole bunch of community members here can give all sorts of tales about how their leaps of faith were rewarded. that link someone posted earlier about some online tourny pig put together, yea that seemed totally worth doing for free lol. i only read the first page, i assumed i got the gist of it
