I'm pretty good at MK9 and I'll play you.

The main problems I have with MK9 is finding someone who a. won't lag and b. won't quit after 1-2 matches

Honestly, if you want mk to be live again then you have to do something about it. I'm going to make an effort with the SA guys to increase the size of the local scene in a pretty substantial way. I feel like until all of these scattered gamers are brought together OFFLINE, then the online competition you want wont be there because players will have nowhere to really learn and grow. And before anyone says that i'm trashing online or online players i want everyone to keep in mind who top online players are: most of these people are top players from other scenes who joined the mk scene or they were people who already had good fundamentals and then went online OR someone at some point told them of the limitations of online and showed them how to grow using it as a tool. the third has produced a lot of sub-top players, but i guess that's where most of us are.

right. ill go find someone who can learn to beat my jax with his own in about a month. lol. i came from online, but you know that since im a "no name player" #Kappa.

not about finding someone, it's about building a scene. getting a group of people into the game means that at least one might develop into a top player and give you competition eventually (doesnt take long to get to the level of someone you play with 4-5 times a week). at the end of the day if people dont play at a decent level offline, then they're absolutely not going to online. getting people into the game is absolutely crucial to giving yourself competition.
btw, that attitude is why noone likes you. real talk.

To argue both points here, honestly the online side is the easiest way to build a scene, sites like this one online are how I even found an offline scene. Online though, what we need to do is manage to get this crazy large IGAU crowd and introduce those as well to MK9 and be supportive f them when they are scrubs. We can teach offline and online IMO.

i would like to teach, but my strategy is mines only you know Spore you cant teach skill. i cant teach someone how to play. but i cant teach someone how to win. because i win in my own way like you win in your own way.

Well I actually quite enjoy IGAU and it actually made me better at MK9. We can teach and help the noobs and scrubs though by being supportive towards them. Often I have noticed our community likes to bash on many new folks and that just turns them off. Even by playing online if we were to just send a message to an opponent on how to better themselves on the game, sure you will get some hate, but there are plenty others that will listen and folow suit. MK9 doesn't have to die, we are all jumping into that mentality and that is going to hurt the following for the game more. Instead of saying its dead or its dying we need to continue to act hype about it. Look at the matches we saw at EVO, those matches show plenty of proof there is stll unexplored territory in the game. We all have said Kabal is broken and damn near undefeatable by much f the cast, yet we have seen folks at EVO beating the acharcter using others other than Cyrax and Kenshi.

Well one thing can be said is that last time I played online I saw a large amount of new folks on the game and this is a sign that we are starting to see that IGAU has at least made some folks intrested in the game, which is great, also it is now on the PC which is going to bring other new peopel into the game.

We have to focus on the positive and being positive about the game rather than remain negative. Just because said pro-player says its dying doesn't mean it is and doesn't mean its going to. I was saddened everytime EVO commentators would say its dead after this. I'm still gonna keep playing the game and I am still gonna support it.

I'm sure you were ass when you first started too. Just like I was and many others.if someone keeps researching me it means they wanna learn, so I'll play em till they leave. I've made friends like this on xbox who are now really good.
