Just curious what people think on this. I have almost solely played MK, a little bit of injustice and a little bit of Tekken. I have never played any of the anime fighters, skullgirls, DOA or any of the new street fighter games (played Street Fight II turbo when I was a kid lol). It doesn't appear that MK is as difficult execution wise as some other fighters. What other fighting games are the most challenging from an execution standpoint, considering both length/complexity of combos and speed requirements for the inputs?

I know some of the KOF games have pretty hard inputs. Melee is very input-heavy just to move around. SF4 does have a lot of 1f links but I don't find it too nuts.

Interesting. Its crazy how some tournament players can go to tournaments and play like 8 goddamn games and remember all the combos/strings in every game, and manage the varying execution requirements. Redic muscle memory i guess

MK is relatively easy on execution barring a few characters, but even then it isn't as rough as some other games.

Game I would say Guilty Gear has been up there. KOF too. It's easier for me to think of characters with the hardest execution in games because I've played so many. From the ones I've played I know that-

I-No in Guilty Gear is so difficult that I believe only a robot could maximize his potential. Most difficult character ever to use.

In Tekken Kazuya, Devil Jin, Nina, and Hwoarang are pretty high up there.

Virtua has that man we know as Akira.

Soul Calibur 4 had my girl Setsuka.

Etc.

Characters that are easy to use can be found in all games as well though. Overall I'd probably go with GG or KOF.

If you play tekken then you should know just to move in that game requires perfect execution at times. So that's my vote, SF4 for combo execution though and Arc System Works games because each character in those games requires a lot of lab time and execution for basic bnb's and setups.

What about Third Strike? I'm not sure where it ranks. I've just heard it's a hard game execution wise.

Its been years since I touched Tekken, but my main memory was using Eddie (since I am a closet rasta) and just having decent success mashing and making him breakdance and shit.

I never even saw it coming lol

Melee is the answer for current games on the tournament circuit. VF in years had a ridiculous amount of "stuff to know" on top of not being the easiest game to just pick up and play. Old guilty gear games were a tedium with the 2f FRC's that all had very specific timing depending on the move. KOF from my personal experience was never all that hard to just, get the stuff out you wanted. 13 had a lot of meters and systems but not necessarily difficult to execute.

Virtua Fighter 4 Evo is on an entirely different level then I would say Guilty Gear or Super Turbo altho CVS2 had roll cancel+A-groove stuff.

Third Strike is an odd one. It's reasonably easy to access and learn basic BnB's, but then there's this sudden leap in execution required to do the harder stuff. At least that's my experience of it. Several characters have some insane combos in that game. There's one where Ryu combos throw into shin shoryuken, which I find crazy even exists. Watch a video of Ryu's 3S Online edition trials. Dudley is flat on the ground when the special connects in a game that doesn't have OTG's. How somebody figured out that was a possibility is beyond me.

Seems Melee and GG are getting the most mentions. Which of these two games destroys a person's thumbs (and soul) to a greater extent?
