STB Sgt Reed

Online Warrior
You know...I think I'll have one Sniper in Ghost and one in Arcangel to see how it goes. Typically I have one Sniper cover the other's flank anyway so they often don't even get shot at. Thanks for the tip.
lol, if double ghost armor is working for you. DON'T FUCK WITH IT. Xcom likes to screw you. haha

One of your snipers gonna die now then it's allllllll sgt reed's fault. :p

9 out of those 13 kills were off of wake up slide.

Also random tip - Be sure to sell any damaged UFO parts from the Grey Market if you're short on cash since they can't be used as research or building resources. They net $40 - $100.

Making personalities for my reimagining of this whole thing. (If I didn't get you and you want a profile thingy done, just tag me with your name and role).

@Shaolin 19 is going to be the fresh faced, young talent. Disillusioned by the tragedy of war, it'll follow his personal growth to the top of the ranks. His overconfidence is well-matched by his skill on the rifle, and his training has given him a cool, almost callous head in all situations, much to the chagrin of his division. Put into the unit due to his potential, his fellow members consider him their trump card. An extra set of dog tags given to him by a veteran member of the unit lays the stage for what could be the greatest tragedy, or the foundation for a lifelong brotherhood.

Shao "Spider" Lin of 19th Squadron, Sniper Division

@Indecisive is going to be the goofy, but mostly innocent and passive guy. Never seeing much action due to his docile nature, he prefers to hang back and assist where he can. A good hearted man who only wants to help, but finds himself outclassed by those with more natural talent in the field. Trademarked by his innate inability to make decisions, his acceptance into the unit can only be described as a recognition of his hard work to equal those around him. When duty calls, he will make the ultimate sacrifice to save his brothers. While succeeding, his unit feels the full weight of their loss in "An Indecisive Victory".

Indy "Indecisive" McScruff of 12th Squadron, Assault Division

@RiBBz22 is going to be the handsome ladies man, but hiding a checkered past. Cursed by previous sins, he wants to repay his debts to humanity through saving the world. His tale is never fully explored, but it doesn't stop him from helping his brothers-in-arms. His burdens weigh heavy on him, those with a keen eye can decode his occasional sighs and distant looks. Cut down in action, his comrade @AK Stormthegates in particular takes the brunt of the loss. He seems to be the only one aware of what occurred before Ribbz joined the unit, through knowing him beforehand or being informed, there is some connection that ties the two together. His acceptance in "Broken Ribs" is matched only by the bloodlust of those looking to avenge him.

Robin "Ribs" Zee of 22nd Squadron, Support Division

@AK Stormthegates is going to be the more secretive of the bunch. The roar of his weapon on the battlefield belies a cold and calculating mind. Keeping to himself more often than not, he somehow manages to befriend the more outgoing Ribbz, even going so far as to discover the truth behind Ribbz's dark past. Its unknown how the two met or became so close, but some bond connects them deeper than blood itself. When Ribbz is lost in action, Stormthegates takes it harder than anyone: He begins to change with that long-forgotten chill of loneliness, he turns his pain into power... With nothing left to lose, will he become the greatest ally, or the biggest liability?

Strum "Storm" Gates of 22nd Squadron, Assault Division

@Rickyraws is the main character. With the fate of the world, and ultimately his new unit, thrust upon him... He will have to fight the tides of war, balancing the weight of the world and those who die in his service upon his mind. Plagued by inexperience, the story follows him and his unit as they work to save a world that gave them no chance. Will he be able to piece this broken world back together, or is it doomed to turn to dust around them? Only time will tell, but until then, at least he is in good company.

Ricky "Slider" Raws, Commander of the unit.

@Doombawkz is the overprotective tank of the group. Voluntarily undergoing physical modification due to his smaller stature, his increase in size did not affect his soft and caring personality. His hero complex brings his focus towards those civilians whom cannot defend themselves, and his kindness is to a fault. However, as the most veteran unit of the force he is also weighted by the reality of the matter. He hears the screams of those he couldn't save, and even now he sees his unit, his brothers, walking into their deaths with him unable to protect them. With his tags given to Shaolin, he sees himself as the last bastion between those he loves, and those who would bring them harm.

Dude. Duuuuuude! Make it happen. Bout to pop the game in right now to cleave more stories from the tendons of war.

Yeah. Don't get me wrong though, I'd be more than happy to write you into the stories.
As far as XCOM goes though, that's all Ricky. I'm digging it, and its great material.
Oh yeah, no worries. Thanks though. What's funny is as I played the game I started coming up with my own "head canon" evolution of characters too even without the game giving explicit context. You get really attached to your units too because they level up so slow but can be taken out so quick.

Searching for an alt.
Yeah but it's on consoles too. I have it digital on my PS3. There's expansion DLC but I haven't played it yet.
I heard it's real buggy on PS3, though it's my preferred system. What about @Rickyraws what system are you playing it on O Captain My Captain?
Anyone with a strong opinion either way? I'm probably gonna pick this up next month.

PS3. It really is incredibly buggy on this system. And I don't just mean the Chryssalids.

UPDATE#6: God I love this game.
Not only have we got satellites up and running in every country that's still with me; we've developed Firestorm jet interceptors and A psi ops lab. Yup you heard it right, folks: We have discovered the ability to awaken telepathic proficiency in our soldiers. Not all soldiers are gifted, however: Qwark is unfortunately too dense to yield the innate ability to use his mind the same way the enemies do. Here's a break down of who's gifted among my recent squaddies:
Doombawks: Gifted
Qwark: No ability
AKStormthegates:Gifted
Aerogrunt: Gifted
Youphemism: No ability
TopTierHarley: No ability
Kitana Prime: No ability
Shaolin 19: Oh is he EVER!
THTB: Gifted
Yoaksss: No ability

Now we had a VEEEERY scary mission. Operation Broken Summer in Saint Petersburg Russia. While alien terror attack missions can be daunting as it is, we encountered our first ...whatchamacallit-apod: A HUGE hulking robot straight out of the original robocop. It looked menacing enough. Then I saw its damage output. OH LAWD!
Thankfully, @Doombawkz and
@Yoaksssss are my resident heavies. They've got + 100% damage to robotic enemies. My units were still in Carapace armor so I knew one laser blast would end them instantly. So I strategically tag teamed "Doakbawksss." HOLY FUCKING SHIT DID I DISCOVER THE HOLY GRAIL OF BADASSERY!
Both of them have powerful rocket launchers that rip through enemies AND the environment. But wait, there's more! If I start the turn by firing with their primary, THEY CAN MOVE AGAIN IN THE SAME TURN! The sheer amount of power these two could produce was ASTOUNDING. Due to how many heads he was ripping, Yoaksss is actually now a Colonel (Max Rank). His last name is Robinson. His nickname is Smokey. Hoorah.

In the same mission we saw the diligence of @Kitana Prime . Gave Doombawks a run for his money in terms of most civilians rescued in one mission, but as he was doing this, I couldn't afford to back him up. One shot from the mech would have killed him he got its attention. And so eventually a hidden berserker came snuck up on him and sent him into a panic. Thankfully he didn't hurt himself or anyone else. I promoted him. Now he's EASILY one of my most resilient and efficient soldiers. His abilities and mobility is excellent.
man.

Freaking @AeroGrunt .Who knew Michelin man over here would become so damn helpful. He's got a jet pack, and his psionic abilities tend to always have 100% accuracy. Inconceivably versatile, which is why I gave HIM archangel armor instead of my snipers. I love you man. In fact I wrote a sexually explicit love song just for you:
You are my Aeroooooooo
I am your Gruuuuuntttt
You are my peeeniiisss
I am your .....
...
....
.....
.....

.....

Moving on...

Dude, @THTB is the bee's knees. This guy is already max rank because he gets the job done. Only the first VIP escort mission with Thin Men all over the place did he ever almost die. Since then death hasn't come for him; he comes for it. He's also gifted, so I've gotta start leveling that up. Also....hhmmmm.......he and Yoakss were a gift to me from the council....THTB uses John Stewart Green Lantern...the person they gave me is black with a country that has a green flag.....HHMMMMMMMM.....

@TopTierHarley is no longer bottom tier. I'll admit, I intentionally never sent him out to missions after the catastrophic mission where we almost lost him. But since then I've been babying him and having him clean up enemies. He's now a very powerful shock trooper. He needed to get his bearings but now he's definitely a formidable force on his own. Almost cried tears of splendor when he critical hit an unexpected Elite Muton and killed it instantly while I thought I'd need to strategize an exit route.

@Qwark28 can turn invisible on the battlefield. Yup, this little devil is equipped with sweet ghost armor. It comes standard with a grappling hook. Very fitting the game would give you a hook. Because you're a dirty pirate. So help me God if you pirate this game I will go on an intense mission with 29 Mutons and Berserkers with you as my only unit and see if you'll make it out alive. Support the devs. Stop wasting your money on How-to-be-Rickyraws self help books, I sent you that link as a joke, dammit.

The good doctor @Dr Morganstien
is surgical and precise. Yes pun intended. With the thousands of different adjectives I could have used do you think a doctor related phrase was a coincidence? Don't be a sack of immolated alien remains. Speaking of immolated alien remains, Morgan makes killing aliens free, man! He's a sniper, and so he and Shaolin can absolutely WRECK SHOP with dual squad sight abilities. Oh God...what about....Shaolin, Morgan AND THTB?!?! Gonna try this the fuck out! Dude got poisoned and panicked, which was nerve wracking, but he was still a fairly new recruit. While THTB has the psionics and ability combinations that encourage mobility, Morgan's damage output rivals the mighty Shaolin. Easy. Alien scum: the doctor will see you now......

In hell.

Having @AK Stormthegates , Qwark and Shaolin out of duty for weeks due to psionics testing was brutal, but allowed the others to get some well earned elbow grease in. Just finished a challenging mission in Brazil that took weeeell over one hour. Our squad is incredibly powerful, and with smart tactics and good footsies, I think we can prevent casualties for a while. But dammit if the aliens aren't crafty.

Oh and during the last big mission, an advance Sectoid took control of Kitana Prime. He actually mind controlled him, and as you can imagine, I was horrified. Didn't know what would happen the next turn. Would he kill his brethren? Would we be forced to kill him? Thankfully, Aerogrunt saved the day and decorated the alien mothership dashboard with the Sectoid's brain matter. So I never needed to find out.

Saved the best for last: @Shaolin 19
Oh my God, this guy. THIS guy. I strategically placed him in an area that oversaw the battlefield but had decent cover (he makes half cover count as full, remember?) then used Doombawks and Yoaksss to rip through the enemy's cover. This allowed Shaolin's 'in the zone ability' to activate, permitting him to fire not one, not two, but three one shot-one-kill head shots on the enemy AND still move! He then, from half way across the map put his Sniper rifle away and stretched out his hand. He extended his wrist. With his new psionic powers he blew the alien up with his fucking MIND! I lost my voice. It was a real Shaolin Showdown.

No not this

You've made me proud soldiers.

@Indecisive and @RiBBz22 ...we miss you ;_;
