It was the USA vs Canada on the Road to Evo 2012... both sides had their characters ready to draw blood and not much longer after it started did all hell break loose. Featuring a match that was quite possibly the most hype match in a long time with xSMOKEx's Smoke against vVv REO's Kabal during the Top 8 where xSMOKEx flawlessed REO's Kabal, sending a message that he was in it to win it. We can now view all of the Top 8 matches courtesy of TSTLP and they are also embedded below. Enjoy.

That xSmokex vs Insuperable match is insane. That's without question the best Smoke play I've ever seen. His execution is absolutely amazing.

I swear REO snapped on execution in one of the matches against xSmokex, watching that was like watching bloody ballet.... HE probably had to ice his hands right after, that's why he lost in handball to you jamessmk, get it straight ;).

And DAAAAAAAAAAAAMN, no top 16? No video of me getting blown up by Insuperable? DAAAAAAAMN

Lol . We love REO.. but hate Kah-balls.. Since we're too scrubby to beat him, we just pass the salt to REO.

That was easily the best smoke play ive ever seen! Incredible stuff xsmokex! I dont think ive ever favourited a match vid on youtube before, but that was to good not to keep! Godlike! keep it up bro!

I appreciate being the #1 most hated MK player with 98% of the crowd always rooting for me to lose / get blown up. It's been like this with me even before MKDC.

It doesn't bother me one bit. 90% of the people who say I'm all luck and no skill wouldn't even make it out of pools at majors anyway. They can money match me for any amount if they have something to prove.

Not really. The only people who really root for me to win are the ones I know pretty well in person, from VSM / NY, or fellow Kabal players. There are some exceptions, but that's about it.

Have you ever seen the stream chats when I'm winning? At least the crowd decides to give me some golf claps once in a while.

It's not you...its...KAAABAAAAL. In the stream chat people talk about how broken or lame that character is and hate seeing him lol. It's not you, everyone admits you're 1 of the best. If you dropped Kabal you'd still be placing very high.

I've been playing fighting games longer than anyone on this board. Bodied everyone at SF2 and Mk1 and 2 back in the day in the arcades....always had to hear about getting lucky....it's funny how the "luck" just kept happening and happening and happening....

Are you really shocked that the Canadian crowd was rooting for a Canadian kid to win?

The kid is 15 and took you to the last round in a nail-biter and has stunned people with his smoke. Of course most of the community is rooting for xSmokex in this situation, it's nothing personal against you, I don't know why you seem to take it to heart.

Considering you do your fair amount of trolling on here as well, most of the players I know root for you to win in majors.

I guess we're going to ignore Devastation, Apex, Winter Brawl, NEC, Final Round, MLG, and etc? And what are you talking about? Every match I played at Toryuken most people were rooting for the other person to win. It didn't matter if I was up against a new player, known legend (Maxter), or etc. It had nothing to do with the Canadian crowd or anything, you got it all wrong.

I'm just being real about it. I don't understand why people try to act like there's this delusion that I'm always the favorite to win at a major. Just admit you want to see me get blown up and my Kabal to be babalit-ied lol.

CDjr blows me up saying he loses respect for me everyday and that I'm a sole product of Kabal and gets over 30+ likes in the Toryuken frontpage thread. I mean, come on. It doesn't get any clearer than that. Like I said, I appreciate the players who do root for me. But it'd be insane to compare those amount to the ones that want to see me get destroyed.

Are you saying because that match was close REO "might as well lost?" lol...it's those close games where there is pressure that really shows who's the better player.

I feel guilty now for praising xsmokex without giving you your due props. You are easily one of the best players in the world , if not the best! And you just proved it once again in this tournament. Dont let other peoples jealousy get you down. You rock dude, keep doing what you do !

All I remember from any match where you play someone from NY is people rooting for you to in. Fair enough if you play someone outside NY and you aren't favoured, people are going to root for they're own. For the neutral in the audience/stream, it's like if a sports team keeps on winning everything the audience wants to see the underdog win.

Despite that, I agree that it's stupid to say that the majority of people are constantly rooting for you, but whatever reason it may be that they're not, be it dislike of Kabal, supporting the underdog/friend, it doesn't have anything to do with you as a person, so I'm confused as to why you seem to make it an issue of personality.

Also, props for another tournament win.

This tournament had probably the hypest matches I have seen like ever. I couldn't really say I was doing any rooting because I knew already REO won the tournament, but I am a kabal main and REO is hands down the best kabal out there, so I would have rooted for him had I not known the outcome of this tourney. Oh and xSmokex has the greatest smoke I have ever seen, it was just incredible. Also, Congrats on the victory REO! Good luck at UFGT
