        So it kind of feels like Cassie has to make hard reads all the time unless she guesses correctly up close. It's definitely better once Cassie's in and can start her game but for the most part getting in itself is really hard for her. After Cassie blocks a mixup correctly, how negative is Takeda? Is it enough to advance a little or punish?

        If you block a close Kunai he is minus 1 or 2 so it's a guessing game in Cassie's favour, but there isn't a point in his offense where you 100% get to do what you want if you block right. After a you block a mid kunai he is plus but I think that Cassie's b2 might beat out another b2 or b3. Will lose to f3 though which is the 2 hit hkd.

        Cassie's b1 is 11-frames, so if he's minus 1 or 2 that means Takeda has to respect it, right? (close). But at mid range, what's the guess? After a blocked Kunai what does Cassie have to guess?

        well i know i havent been down playing him, the only place he could really use a few tweaks is tempest, and maybe making a few of his strings safer. Like he's got some unsafe strings that really don't lead to anything, so why would they be so unsafe?! lol

        the amount of downplaying going on about his hattrick though is dumb.

        But I don't care for arguing anymore, I know Kung Lao is a great character in MKX, regardless of what his MK9 counterpart was. PL says he sucks because he is no doubt trying to play him like it's MK9, and he may not be top tier but he's still a great character.

        slight nerf on the divekick...it went from a few frames recovery to 17 frames of recovery... and jumpkick divekick got completely removed from the game. For the record I am completely fine with buzzsaw. And tempest just needs a few tweaks to complement buzzsaw imo.

        DJT and REO call Lao the best character in the game. That makes him the most overrated character in the game. Jax, Raiden, Sub, Scorp, Quan, Cassie, Jacqui, D'Vorah, Kung Jin, Erron, Sonya and Kano are better. This makes him good, but that's about it. Nobody's downplaying, others are upplaying. PL gets salty and exaggerates, that is nothing new.

        He has two different ways to make his 50/50 plus on block, he has god like meter building and zoning, and that ridiculous bat that you can just machine gun. He has an incredibly hard to block mixup that features the low bat and his overhead timing very close to eachother as well. And then if he has a bar he can just be plus and make you guess again. It's fucking stupid.

        Also his ex trance goes fullscreen and has armour, so if he sees you trying to counter zone, he can fuck you up with that and combo you from fullscreen.

        Just an observation Bill. He is a very simply character outside of War God, and his design is slightly hindered by his slow walk speed and start up. He doesn't have any mixups in BG, and SG only has a mixup with tick throw that simply isn't very good. So he relies on reads and out-spacing your opponent, which becomes much more difficult with a bad walk back speed.

        When you fight Takeda for the first time, you're like "look at the range on his normals". But after a while you get used to them and you just jump or armor through them. The damage he gets from that is minimal, risk is not in his favor. They need to make his pokes faster, that way he can actually get out. Rhonin is probably his best variation.

        spin isn't as good as it was in mk9 as an anti air. Jump attacks aren't universal now so you have your ways around it.

        The in-game data says Liu Kang's b2 does 3% damage when in fact it does 7%. If it's that off, imagine how wrong a lot of other stuff is.

      Either Liu Kang's f1 IS 5 frames despite what the game says, or it is like Injustice were a 5 frame normal won't punish a string that is -5.

        Yeah there is a bunch of stuff that is conufsing me as well. Kung lao has a long range overhead and 2/3 other strings that are really good. But they are all unsafe unless you can cancel it into a safe low hat in buzzsaw variation.

        If teleport 3 is -7, then it is logical that Spin, which has 6 frames of start-up, can't punish it. Spin would be a reversal. It takes 1 frame to start the reversal from block, so on the first active frame of the spin, the opponent is on neutral position, and able to block.

        Basically, normals can punish -[absolute value of their start-up frames] -2 frames, while reversals can punish -[absolute value of their start-up frames] -1 frame.
