Recent online updates?

GambitTheFirst

Just some bees, please.
So I've been away on holiday for the past week and a half and I've come back to find online pretty much unplayable, has there been any updates to online lately?

I saw a lot of people saying online was bad when the game was released, but I personally thought it was pretty damn good, I would have said 95% of the games I played had little to no lag, and obviously it can't be perfect for people in other countries. But coming back now, almost every game I've played today has been unplayable, even against another local player who I've played plenty of games with before.

I notice the load times between games has been reduced ("Connection to Online" message), but to be honest I'd happily have this take ages if it means online games were as smooth as they were when I first got the game.

Anyone else experiencing this?

(I'm from UK, playing on PS4)

Online was fine if your connection was alright on the release date I think. I stayed at Youphemism's house and his connection allowed me to play games and stuff just fine. But then I came to my house and I couldn't play on my 2 down and 0.25 up (not surprised lol). I've not been able to play online at all really :/

I'm in England, PS4 also. It would appear to have gotten worse, but I think what actually happened was that I got lucky with most of my matches.

I have noticed that when I'm in the lobbies, I'm no longer getting indications as to other player's ping. First couple of weeks it would go down the list and give you bars, but now the only bars I get are my own (Green. Who'd have guessed?).

What I'm waiting on is the option to pre-vet ranked matches. At the moment, not being able to drop out of a red bar match, and being forced to trudge through 2 second delay is just horrible, but sometimes I don't want to hunt through a lobby for a good connection, especially now the game refuses to tell me where they are.

Online isn't what it's suppose to be sadly.
After the latest patch it sometimes takes ages to actually find ranked matches too.
The lag depends on connection of course, but Wifi seems to cause a lot of issues.
There is always a slight lag and you'll feel the difference between online and offline play.
However, Ed Boon acknowledged the online issues live on stream so that's a good thing.
Lets just hope they will make it as great as they possibly can.

They knew online was going to be shit, and they seem to be more concerned with things like trivial micro-transactions than fixing the online component to their biggest franchise. They didn't even take into account their netcode before making some characters how they are. The reason I as well as many others think Inferno Scorpion is strong is because we have 0 reaction time. They need to get it into gear for the next game.

I have to agree with the comments from the PS4 UK users, as it has got worse since the patches (that I have noticed anyway) the first 5 days on release was very good for me.

I tend to play KOH mostly and in the beginning it was full green bars and some yellow with little lag that didn't stop you dropping combos or punishing unsafe frames, yet now it's hit and miss with users with greyed out nothing to 1 red bars that makes play worthless.

I bet half the of them are on wireless or phone tethering now while their mate is watching porn:)

Agree totally. You can learn to react in training mode all you want, it doesn't matter. Against Inferno online you need to preempt which attack they plan to use.Same goes for Kung Lao. You can't react to his teleport flash, you have to predict it, and even then if the lag is particularly bad, you have no time to actually do anything about it.

If the Netcode can't be improved upon much more, how about a network simulator similar to USF4, where you can dial up the lag in training mode and practice punishes, etc, at sub-optimal conditions?
