For those in desperate desire of Mortal Kombat action... hold on just a little bit longer and you shall have it. This weekend in Atlanta, Ga ShinBlanka returns with "Final Round" on 3/29-3/31. Like any other event where Mortal Kombat strikes, players from all over the United States are set to be flying in to compete. You've got returning players such as Mr. Mileena, GamerBlake90, Shujinkdink, Mezmerize, Scar, L0rd of the Fly and players who are ready to show them how rusty they've gotten. DoctrineDark will also be competing in the same pool as NYChris G... if Florida ready?!
Below, and featuring the Final Round pool assignments, we have put together a player preview followed by the Final Round schedule for this weekend.
Wound Cowboy - The NorCal resident will be attending Final Round this weekend. Wound Cowboy is best known for his Shang Tsung and recently taking 2nd place at SoCal Regionals. What makes Wound's game-play so deadly is how fluid and flawless his execution is. Maybe it's the thousands of souls that he has shamelessly consumed or maybe he is just out for blood... endlessly. At SoCal Regionals Wound was the star who defeated several top players and finally took 2nd place. Those who get matched up with the Cowboy will need to be ready if they want to leave with their soul.
Pig of the Hut - Those who are a stranger to Pig of the Hut will be in for a surprise. He mains Kenshi and uses Mileena in rare cases and execution, timing and accuracy for both of his characters has turned Pig in to a machine. While he's gained a huge reputation for the Atlanta scene... anyone coming to his own turf know what they're up against. Not just the average Joe takes the game as seriously as Pig... he's got blow-ups and determination. He is the reason Kenshi is the new hated character.
DR Gross - Well, well... the man who beat Perfect Legend at the Video X Games is going to be throwing down yet again at Final Round? Yes, he is confirmed. Gross is best known as a merciless Smoke player who does not play by the rules. With Sektor as his secondary, Gross has put many players on the side-lines in his path of wreckage including Big D's Ermac at one of the latest CEO events. There is a good chance Gross will meet up with his rival Perfect Legend again at Final Round. Will Gross be ready for a run-back?
Noobe - A sole Cyrax player from the early days, Noobe is an expertise at all things bomb traps. He is one of the few Mortal Kombat 9 stick players from Florida that deal damage and rarely ever drop a combo. What Noobe has in his corner is abusing everything Cyrax has with meter-less setups, unbreakable combos and max damage. Anyone knows if they get caught by Noobe's full-meter Cyrax... "only a real master..." can come back from that. Your chances will be slim.
GamerBlake90 - He is one of the youngest and fiercest players to grace Mortal Kombat 9 and he's proved many times that he can stand with the big dogs. In one Blake's most recent showcases of strength, he took EGP Tyrant to everything he had and almost eliminated him during MLG Dallas. Blake is most well-known for his Sonya who has incredible speed and adaptation to his opponent. Blake's passion for the game and high-level competition are what fuel him. No player will have an easy road.
EGP Tyrant - Based out of the West Coast, Tyrant has been making a tremendous effort to make it to several East Coast events including NECXIII, Winter Brawl and now Final Round. Tyrant is the only current player known for Jax in the same fashion. He offers his opponent more pressure than they can swallow making the close-up game against him a nightmare. Your only real way of winning against him is staying away. Good luck with that.
Mr. Mileena - A name we don't see too much at tournaments anymore will be making a return to Final Round this weekend. The one who play's Kitana and has given players like REO a run for his money in the past will find out if anyone brings their S+ game to Final Round. Mr. Mileena's instant air fans, zoning and strategy will have his opponents constantly trying to find a way in. Mistakes are not an option in this match... this is the Final Round.
Khaotik - Another player who mains Kitana, Khaotik has been rising out of the East Coast scene for quite some time. The last tournament he attended was Winter Brawl where he placed in the Top 8... and he's ready for more. Khaotik has an out-of-the-box play-style with Kitana making his strategy different from others and very unpredictable. Going south... his target is surely all of the above.
Perfect Legend - The Mortal Kombat community as a whole had a second chance to beat him on the big stage and it failed. The reigning Mortal Kombat 9 EVO Champion will be heading to Final Round to take nothing but first place. A player such as himself who is self-taught and lacks a local scene and is the EVO Champ... can Florida even comprehend that? Perfect Legend fears no one and he will prove that in the Final Round.
