MKII Kung Lao vs UMK3 Kung Lao

I know this is gonna sound kinda weird, but why is it easier for me to hit Kung Lao's whiff dives in the MKII arcade, but can barely his past 2 whiff dives on MK3/UMK3?

Whats the difference other than in MK3/UMK3 you have to hit an anti-air hit before the next JP, Whiff Dive.

I just wish the Kung Lao setups in MKII were alot easier, then I'd be ok.

The moves trigger the same way in both: D, HK.

The differences are probably in the hitboxes and how high the opponent gets knocked by the jump punch. aaJP, whiffed dash kick in MK2 is pretty easy and I think it's because they end up higher after the jump punch, but it's been a long time since I did it.

The 2D MK games are all extremely similar. The differences between them are small, but noteworthy. MK3 began as MK2 and was altered into a new game. That's why at a fundamental level the games play so much alike.
