Fantastic tournament at YesterCades of Somerville. Thanks so much to Gary for taking care of us for this event and all his staff whom I'm less familiar with since I can't make it up to Somerville on a regular basis like Red Bank. So thanks Ken Kalada for opening the 2nd location, which seems to be a good spot for a lot of players. All games did about the same turnout with the exception of Marvel 3. Where's Marvel? UMK3:TE had a solid showing with 14 players, 2 players need to be put On BLAST for not getting to signups on time which would have made it 16. This was a free tournament with a $100 bonus supplied by MGFC Chain-Ace. Thanks man! KI turned out 10 very good players, with some missing out on the event for various reasons. This tournament was run on the same weekend as the KI release party tournament was last year. CvS2 and 3rd strike managed to outdraw Marvel 2 getting 8 players per game.

Overall around 60 players showed up for this local and had a grand time. Thanks to all my KN staff, Mikemetroid, Ray Riazy, Rapzilla, ChiefGief, Kazi of Always Godlike, DyNicksty of Red Bank Rumble, Chain-Ace of Tunes Tuesdays, and we were pleased to enlist the help of D Speedshifting for KI, who also supplied a $100 bonus for the event. Thank you also to Jaxel of 8wayrun for streaming this event for us again! Thank you to everyone who attended, was patient, had a great time, cleaned up, moved a box. etc. You are all great.

Again, great tournament full of great people. Yestercades is amazing :O check this out:

AMAZING

Also blurry pictures!

Troy's usual reaction to Injustice.
I'm not joking, this is from Birthright a couple of months ago:

LOOK AT HIS FACE

Picture of the venue and Stranger's mutated face (that's his actual face, please don't make jokes, he's really sensitive about it).

Our lord and savior JamesMK schooling us about the art of arcade bowling. After that we plotted the destruction of non-east coast scenes and the best strategies to club baby seals.

I CANT EVEN

I'll get 2 on 2 working next time, we could have had it without the PS4 controller hooked up. Almost every person in the tournament who used pad, wanted to use their own pad and configuration. It's possible to monitor and change as long as someone is playing or there who knows what's up.

So for the most part, we do 2 sticks and 2 psx pads, and that's enough to get through 95% of tournaments. The PSX controllers are hot swappable in game due to the USB port behind connected and not messing with the rest of the controllers. The next problem is if the person who wants to use their pad has a different layout. An annoy example was Sp1cun1t because he exclusively uses the triggers for his run and block and can't use the bumpers. This throws shit off big time. psx pad players you can usually get away with assign R1 as block, L1 as Run, L2 as block and R2 as run, and this will give 3 specific config layouts that are possible for just about any player since they are a hybrid of the PSX MKT, XBLA 2006 UMK3, and SNES standards. Mame can support up to 8 inputs at once, so if there are two 360 players, or technically, even one, you need a 360 pad on both sides. 99.9% of 360 pad players use the 2006 XBLA config, so this is fine. If you got some weird config, then we need to change shit every time you play. The best config we ever had was 2 sticks, 2 PSX pads, 2 360 pads and 2 keyboards. I just wish there was a mame that had an easy plug and play config system like a regular game.

Hey @Shock I haven't ran this idea past you yet, because it doesn't really address the core problem of connecting controllers without restarting the game. But what if both P1 and P2 had like 4 independent input assignments in the config menu? So you can assign one controller at a time, and not needing to assign all controllers per player simultaneously?

I'm not sure how much that would help, but I think something like that is doable.
