Ikizzle vs. MK Legend - Winners Semi-Finals 1
The first match of winner’s top 8 started off with Ikizzle vs. MKlegend, an unknown Kung Lao player making his major debut. Ikizzle starts very strong, showing his talents with his Sektor. He capitalized on each blocked spin and opportunity to do damage. The next round he shows his dominance by defeating MK Legend with flawless victory in the 2nd round. He wins the series 2-0

OSU 16-Bit vs. Chris G - Winners Semi-Finals 2
The second winner’s semi-finals match is the run back from from EVO 2011 top 8 with OSU 16 Bit vs FC NY Chris G. While they did square off at Final Round, Chris G used Noob and lost to 16 Bit. This time he turns to Reptile and it proves to work out well for him. 16-Bit off the bat applies a lot of pressure and doesn’t allow Chris G to zone. Chris G adapts and plays a more aggressive Reptile ending his bread and butter combos with slow force balls. He forces 16 bit to stay in place in dashes in for more pressure. Chris G takes it, 2-1.

Ikizzle vs. Chris G - Winners Finals
IKizzle starts off with good footsies a\+-d plenty of pressure. He makes good reads and dominates the first round. Strong corner pressure next round wins him the first match. Ikizzle wins the next match, however due to complications during the match, it is not counted and is replayed. Chris G dashes in for pressure aggressively, but also patient enough to block and punish Sektor teleports. He takes the next match to tie the series at 1-1. Ikizzle composes himself, uses primarily safer enhanced teleports and overall plays more patiently than in matches previous. A pause during the match causes issues and they play yet another rematch. The next match, Chris G blocks a teleport and has the chance to get a full combo punish to win the round but fails to do so. On wake up, Ikizzle gets an enhanced teleport in the corner to win the round. The next match, Ikizzle dominates and takes the set 3-1.

AU Digimon vs .GGA Dizzy - Losers Quarter-Finals 1
The first losers-quarter finals match on stream is AU Digimon vs. GGA Dizzy. It was interesting who Digimon would use. If anyone knows the Sheeva matchup it is Dizzy. He plays GGA Jeremiah all the time and knows nearly all of the Shokan’s tricks. He used Quan-Chi in the tournament however that is believed to be a bad match against Cage. Digi hidden selects and uses Sheeva. Off the bat Dizzy dominates and shows his knowledge of the match up by punishing everything that Sheeva does. Digimon quickly picks a different character, once again uses hidden select. His character of choice is Jade. Dizzy convincingly takes the first round not allowing Jade to get anything started. The next round Digimon gives everything he has and shocks everyone by taking a round off Dizzy. Dizzy shakes it off to take a very dominating 2-1 victory.

EMP Tom Brady Coco Forever King - Losers Quarter-Finals 2
This was one of the most exciting matches of the entire tournament. Both players play very patient and try to capitalize on each other’s mistakes. This proved to be very difficult because whenever the opportunity arises the other has breaker to stop anything to damaging from happening. Forever takes the first match with good footsies and patient Kung Lao play. The next match Tom Brady makes good reads and with strong corner pressure, wins the next match. Forever King not liking the matchup, decided to switch to Jax. In the first round, Tom catches King in the corner and ends the round with Forever King’s back to the wall. Forever King adjusts and wins the next round with an enhanced wake up over head smash. Tom Brady has full meter vs. Kings no meter in the final round. It turns out to be a nail biting match with Tom Brady catching King in corner with a cross over punch into X-Ray combo. Instantly, Tom stands up with utter excitement and the crowd roars and takes it 2-1.

GGA Dizzy vs. OSU 16 Bit - Losers Semi-Finals 1
16 Bit gets the first damaging combo however Dizzy catches him in the corner. Dizzy chips 16 bit to death with f3 strings and enhanced force balls. 16-Bit does not let this disturb him and takes the first match against Dizzy. 16 Bit plays a lot more aggressive than what we are used to seeing from him. It ends up paying off very well for him because he doesn’t give Dizzy the opportunity to set up his pressure. OSU 16 Bit takes it 2-0

Tom Brady vs. MK Legend - Losers Semi-finals 2
Yet another Subzero vs. Kung Lao match in this loser semi-finals mach. MK Legend proves to be a different player with much more patience than he has shown in matches previous. He takes the first match and shakes up Tom Brady. Tom composes himself, makes better reads and takes the next match. It seems he has found his rhythm because in the first round of the last match, Tom gets great punishes on every teleport and does a great job of forcing MK Legend to play his game. MK Legend adjusts the next round by not letting Tom do anything. He plays very aggressive and it seems too much for Tom to handle. He loses the round and it comes down to the last match, last round yet again. Tom shows his corner pressure is one of the best there is and defeats MK Legend 2-1.

Tom Brady vs. OSU 16-Bit - Losers Round 3
Brady is going causing a show knocking out person after person with his Sub-Zero. His next opponent is OSU 16-Bit. It proved to be his hardest match and 16-Bit’s Kitana controlled the field. Good instant-air fans and not allowing himself to be cornered by Tom wins him the match. Tom sticks it out with his Sub-Zero and although he fought well, can’t beat the princess. 16 Bit wins it 2-1 over Tom Brady to advance to losers finals.

Chris G vs. OSU 16-Bit - Losers Finals
In the rematch that happened earlier in top 8, Chris G takes the first match with an Enhanced dash that goes through 16-Bit’s wake up enhanced cutter. Chris takes the next match with well placed slow force balls after combos. 16-Bit composes himself and takes match 3 with good anti-airs and controlling the spacing. Yet another pause occurs during the next match but the players choose to play through it. Chris G ultimately wins vs 16 eliminating him 3-1

Ikizzle vs. Chris G - Grand Finals
In a very dominant fashion, Ikizzle defeats Chris G 3-0 with his Sektor. Chris tried to make something happen with his alternate characters but found no success. First he went with Noob, but found no luck. In the third match he goes with Kung Lao and appears to just have given up. He hardly tries playing at all and Ikizzle wins the grand finals 3-0.

Post tournament impressions:
Ikizzle proved to be too strong, and wins the entire tournament. Congratulations to him for winning a major and proving that Sektor has what it takes. Everyone performed really strong and I was personally most impressed by Tom Brady's Sub-Zero. He shows that he still has what it takes with him finishing 4th. Unfortunately, Perfect Legend had issues at home to attend to so he left before the tournament happened. PowerUp proved to be a very exciting tournament to watch and I am excited for the next major. Be sure to catch UFGT 8 May 25-27th in Chicago, IL

*Also, May 26th players should come to GGA the night before the tournament to get some fun games in.

Congrats to Ikizzle, I'm really happy for him and Sektor! Also, congrats to Dizzy for making Top8, btw loved his Kenshi in 6v6 the day before. Brady played really well against Kung Laos, happy B-day btw! Finally, LOL @ 16-bit's tiara! Probably the funniest Top 8 ever! :)

Bunch of good players made top 8.

Congrats Tom Brady on a high finish :)

Also grats to IKizzLE.

And yet another top 8 finish for Chris G ... I'm going to just take a wild guess and say he DOES play this game :)

CURBOLICOUS

Cage ban wagon?
Congratz to IKizzLE but how does Chris G go through top players without even playing this game seriously? Is Christ G that good? I didn't watch the stream too much, did he level up?

Cat

This guy looks kind of tuff...
Sektor winning 2 tournaments this weekend :O .... congrats to ikizzle!
and happy bday to tom!

good stuff by ikizzle winning PU, i predicted he'd be someone who could take PU and he did. Also congrats to my friend MKLegend on his top 8 finish. This was his first tournament ever and he usually plays online but he proved to not be phased by the offline scene. Proving once again online players can do it big offline.

Great show by IKizzle, chris g with a great showing but an embarrassing performance giving up and ruining the grand final. This after going random select in the KOF grand final, essentially giving up on that as well.

At least use your best characters and give us fans who spent most of the weekend watching a hype final and a real match instead of bitching out because you're afraid to lose on your main..

Congrats Tom and 16Bit for having the craziest matches of the entire tournament. That was some serious edge of the seat shit!
