Actually it can. When your opponent is crouching, thier hitbox is extended forward, and that causes the trap to "double freeze". To get around that all you have to do is slightly adjust your spacing, and it will work perfectly.

If they neutral crouch then it obviously won't work, but that's hella risky IMO.
