What's a Smarrgasm?
Friday night brought about another of the weekly tournaments from the deep south players in Atlanta. The ninth installment of the Atlanta Kombat Arena would feature 15 of Atlanta's best doing battle in Injustice: Gods Among Us. The champion of the past two weeks, BYS Smarr, was looking to make it three in a row while others were looking to spoil the party for the dictator.
Winner's Finals saw two competitors that dont play a ton in tourney but put on a good set in Xenomporph and BYS Smarr. Xenomorph had been on fire all night with a strong showing using Green Lantern taking out Reno Racks and Goomba earlier in the Winner's Bracket. Xeno would take Game 1 to put Smarr on guard but the adjustment was made as Smarr came back to win 3-1 and advance to Grand Finals.
In Loser's Finals, RTD was on the way to another guaranteed Top 3 strong showing as he met with Xenomorph. Xeno would somehow win the Sinestro vs Lantern MU in game 1 but after that RTD was completely in control. Xeno tried to pick Batgirl but to no avail and went out with his main Lantern 3-1. This was a great showing by Xeno who was just happy not to place 7th which he is known for always doing. He will look to break the mold again next week and climb even higher.
A runback of last week's Grand Finals was in order as RTD met with BYS Smarr. Smarr would start off very strong somehow getting Asylum as his random stage in Grand Finals yet again. After going up 2-0 RTD would fight back and close out an insanely close Game 3 by just a pixel to make the set 2-1. In Game 4 Smarr would take an insutmountable life lead at the start and slowly close out the set from there finishing it out with a toss of the Bat signal on Gotham Rooftop.
This marks the 5th AKA victory for BYS Smarr and 3rd in a row. Black Adam continues to do work for Smarr weeks after the balance patch. Atlanta continues to have strong showings as we approach the Winter season of majors in the coming months. As Pig of the Hut, Saltface, and others were unable to attend, Smarr continues to win. Keep an eye out for the AK boys again next week!
