How Matchup Dependency will play out?

I liked MK, but one of the flaws that made me quit was the feeling many characters in the roster were not well rounded enough to overcome many matchups, and rather than get a 4-6's and a few 3-7's, it felt like they were more 3-7's and a few 2-8's and 1-9's running around. I felt only a few characters in the cast could compete without a constant need to counter pick to win. I'm not sure how it played out after the 70mil patches, but I'm curious on expectations and what needs to change to prevent that in Injustice. Playing GL I'm already getting the impression he's got some really bad MU's and some really dominating ones.

(The game is new an we have a LOT of tech to discover, this is just discussion, not a complaint on the current balance)
