East Coast Throwdown 2 was one of the craziest tournaments we've ever experienced, and not just because we organized it. The energy in that ballroom was really something else. Joe and I are really proud of the progress we've made thus far in organizing these events, and we're really pleased with what we have in store for this year.

The venue has changed, but it is still in Morristown, NJ. The new venue is the Hyatt Morristown which is very close to the old venue, but in a completely different environment. There are TONS of places to eat within walking distance of this hotel (like 3 minute walks out the front door, VIEWABLE from your hotel room window). Joe and I have eaten at The Office bar and grill and their food and atmosphere is really good. Definitely a spot to hit up after the tournament ends to unwind. Here's the scoop on the hotel:

Hyatt Morristown
3 Speedwell Avenue
Morristown, NJ 07960
(973) 647-1234

=====MASS TRANSIT INFORMATION!!!=====

To get to the hotel using mass transit, please take the Morristown Train Line from Penn Station in New York to the Morristown line.

===========================

ROOMS CAN BE BOOKED!!

Turns out, however, that ECT3 is too hype to contain everyone in one hotel. We've booked every single room in the Hyatt Morristown that was available our weekend and sold the place out. Please visit the link below to our website to see alternate hotels within 1 mile of our venue. Do, however, try the Hyatt Morristown link on that page as there could be a cancellation that opened up a room for you.

Venue fee will be $25 Pre-Registered. $35 At The Door

We wasted hours last year doing registration at the door, causing major delays and pushing every side game back to Sunday, which was completely unacceptable. We are enforcing online pre-registration this year in order to prevent this from happening again. If you choose not to pre-register through the website, your entry to the tournament is not guaranteed. If the bracket for a game is determined to be 512 and all 512 spots are filled, we will not be creating a larger bracket. Pre-register online to ensure entry into the tournaments you want to play in.

PRE-REGISTRATION ENDS JUNE 19. REGISTER HERE!

===========================

The games that will be held as main tournaments are as follows:

  • Super Street Fighter IV (PlayStation 3) - $10
  • Marvel vs Capcom 3 (PlayStation 3) - $10
  • Tekken 6 (PlayStation 3) - $10
  • Mortal Kombat 9 (PlayStation 3) - $10
  • BlazBlue: Continuum Shift 2 (PlayStation 3) - $10
  • Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike (PlayStation 2) - $10
  • Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (MAME on PC, sticks will be provided) - $5
===========================

East Coast Throwdown 3 will be streamed all weekend long by Team Sp00ky with commentators for various games at the event. We will be trying to do what we did last year and stream every game throughout the weekend, including the finals for each game.

Hate to be a downer, but has an entry fee been decided on or at least give a range for the Entry Fee. It's quite a ways away but I need to see if I can make it.

I LOVE the fact that these are as close as they are to me... considering there are so many people within the US that don't have a scene like this where they live. Though, I would also love to see those locations get some love too... :(

Good shit by SJC.

Will there be room for Storm's UMK3 cab too?
It may or may not be going... because I would like to replace the monitor and I may or may not have the money to do so. I would like to bring it though... and if I still do I would like to mod the top before ECT3 so that the controls are on a "flat" surface and not curved.

Also, we're already planning the next "Roundtable" discussion hosted by the Kombat Network and three of the 5 guys I am thinking of already and I believe Phil and I agreed on these are SweetJohnnyCage and BigE. Phil will be the host again and I will essentially be the director. We are also working on a new set of questions/discussions and this time it will revolve around essentially what SweetJohnnyCage and BigE are to the community.

I am looking forward to it already. ;)

Dan - If you want, you can stay at my place Friday night. I only live 45 minutes from Morristown.

Same goes to anyone else.

Wow I really gotta update the first post reflecting all of the changes we had. I am vigilantly working on the hotel scenario as someone else brought that up on another forum.

Sorry I am a little late guys. My internet isnt the best in this in my apartment.

I am really damn happy to see such a good response from the mk community. You guys are near and dear to me. MK is the reason I stand where I do today. This was my first game which I had a drive for. Heres to MK9 driving me even harder!

Great to see you here Joe! You and John do so much for the MK community. The stream at ECT2 for UMK3 was epic and really is what jumpstarted everything for us again. Heres to MK9 rocking the foundations at ECT3!
