Does anyone here have experience with capture cards?

So I've been thinking about what I could get with my tax return this year, since I don't need a new laptop and I don't really want to get a PS3 I've been thinking outside the box a bit. I've already looked up some cards on Amazon.

This one seems relativelly inexpensive, but as usual I'm worried about the bang for my buck and that perhaps the video or audio output will be rather crappy.

Here's another, but this times it's rather pricey. Plus it looks like it would take up space on my small shelf in my room which is already rather packed with stuff(A 360 with a PS2 slim and router on top of it, yeah it's seriously not that big.)

Is there anything else I should be looking for? I know for fact that I'll most likely need my laptop with the console to record the footage, does my laptop need to be pretty high-end to not get lagged out by the recording process? I already have plenty of HD space as well, as I know that raw footage takes up a huge amount of space.

That PVR one ive heard is great for streaming. I recommend not to get a dazzle or ezcap if you want to stream with it.
Well, I probably won't stream. I'm looking to mostly record matches and perhaps dumb self-imposed challenge vids like me trying to beat Challenge Tower #269 with just Stryker's standing 4.
