D4 into special moves?

How do you do this? I've never been able to and I've been trying all sorts of different timings on the input...

for example:

Reptile- D4~acid hand
Kung Lao-D4~low hat
Sub-Zero-D4~ice clone

etc etc...

What's the timing on this?

There really is no timing, you just link them exactly like you would a combo.

Just down 4 and then roll your finger back to back 2, etc.

So the timing would basically be immediately.

For whatever reason it doesn't come out at all. For anyone.. I guess I just need to keep trying.. :/

Yeah man, not much else to say.


Also try to imagine if you can sharing the down command with whatever special move you're doing. Instead of doing down 4 and then down back 2 for acid hand try down 4 and as he kicks do back 2. Etc.

See how that works out for you.

All I can say is practice putting it in as one combo like bookburning said. That's why the negative edge is there so that if you do it quickly, the 2nd Down input goes off and tells the game that you want to do the "fireball" input.

i myself do the KL D4 low hat fine, and i also like doing the D4 smoke bomb with smoke xD

you can't buffer directional commands into special moves like you would in street fighter

meaning, you can't be holding down for a long period of time if you want to do a special move that starts with the down input

In Sub-Zero's case, you have to ''cancel'' the clone out of the d4. Press the buttons while d4 hits, or even before it hits.
