Bane vs. Grundy's Super

I was online and was playing Bane against this Grundy.
Anyway he popped up his super and was right in my face.
I started panick spamming low kick and he just couldn't do anything until his Super timer went off.
That happened twice in the same match.
Is that supposed to happen?
Is Grundy's super so easily destroyed? Or was my opponent just bad ?

You can super him back (Dunno if its character dependent) and dodge it. You're kinda fucked in the corner unless you make a good read.
