What a day. What a lovely day.
Lbsh, I loved how the girls looked in MK9, but they honestly looked like girls out of a cheap porno about superheroes. Spinning around poles, winking at the camera, wearing costumes that barely made any sense at all, etc.

It's fantastic that NRS is taking the time to mature the designs of the females and make them more realistic, despite the potential backlash from horny teenagers. I give NRS major props for this move.

Maybe im not clear enough, one last time.. im not criticizing the tech behind the game, the game could run at 8MP with ten times the polycount, realtime Global Illumination,.. it would still look bad, because the art is bad to begin with that's why you pay an army of artists to produce artwork who never touch a 3d model or a shader. That's not their job. Sometimes the actual 3D modeler and texture artists are not up to the task either to transpose the art in pretty geometry and pixels, but usually it all comes down to the initial artwork to produce great visuals with an "identity".

People keep confusing graphic and art. The reality nowadays is 90% of the so called "impressive graphic" is due to art not tech and can make or break a game (even commercially i believe). Except a few exceptions of studios managing to combine great tech and great art, you can give the best pens (the hardware/tech) to people with no talent they will still make shitty drawings... I don't even ask MK to have above average tech, just decent art on the visual departement, that's my only criticism here.
Is it lonely up there on your pedestal?

Both Kitanas primary and alternate costumes were so stupid and bland looking in 9.

I'm not 100% sold on what she is wearing in X, but at least it has some character to it, and someone actually put effort into designing it.

Wait someone said MK was based on realism... The game that had people explode into 20 rib cages and leg bones.. Ummm sure...

I always liked the art style as some weird old kung fu /heavy metal/comic mash up..
The translation of that to in game could have been better... But MKX looks by far the best and the character design is great so far IMO....

Why at the "finish him" part of the clip (near the end) is Kano in one variation then, in the actual fatality, he's in another?

Well, it's not about realism as much as it is about being as "photorealistic" as available technology allowed instead of using stylized art - I'm fairly sure that is pretty distinctive trait of the series.

Cassie looks perfectly fine of her wallpaper NRS released, her in-game rendition is just not quite there yet, but as Insignis said already, it was way better in the last trailer, even though we've seen her for like a split second - lighting does indeed makes its job.

Well I agree the style was realistic... Untill 4... Then it was extremely stylized and often far behind available tech... Even 9 didn't look anywhere near as good as it could...
That being said I never had a problem with the art and think x is looking great so far...

There is so many problems with the character's proportions, its texturing and poly distribution..

To me Kano looks great, i really like his design a lot!

Yeah, Kitana's designis my favorite of the characters in MKX so far. MK9's Kitana didn't make any sense, like what kind of Princess wears that? I can't really stand her original or alt, usually why I pick her MK2/3 costumes
 
Honestly Kano is the best designed character in MKX so far IMO. With Kotal being a close second. Kano has an unrefined brutishness to him that let's you know he doesn't take shit from anyone. Its like Khal Drogo and a terminator had a kid

If you think that looks bad then you should see street fighter V, that game looks horrendous compare to MKX.
