The old hitboxes were banned from tournament because you could hold Left and Right, thus negating your opponents cross-up game. The newer models do not have this "feature."

TheKraftyMatt As far as I know, that was only a problem in Marvel, which was patched in an update. Most games only recognize you as pressing the most recent L/R button, but Marvel was problematic in that it did not force one or the other. You could hold both and block both ways.

So, no, that shouldn't be a problem anymore. It's not like anyone is going to check that shit anyways.

Nowadays, most if not all new hitboxes come with what's called an SOCD cleaner, which takes the decision-making on holding Left+Right at the same time away from the game, and puts it in the HitBox's hands. Basically, L+R = neutral with an SOCD cleaner in place. This can be either beneficial or detrimental depending on how you look at it and what quirks you have in your input style as a player.

Hopefully all of the above is accurate. I'm no expert and this is how I've haphazardly come to understand things over the past few months. I'm about 90% sure I'm correct but if there's any discrepancies please let me know.

Just a doubt about this controller on the main scene of Injistice.

I know it was banned on MK9, so I would like to know if it has something to do with Injustice also.

???
Was it banned outside of the old models that made crossups impossible?
I am really interested in buying this fightstick for Injustice but would hate to have it arrive in the mail and see the fightstick banned.

It's not banned anywhere. Go ahead and purchase it, if you think you'd benefit/enjoy using it. It's a great product, for sure.

Do you think its beginner friendly? Would it be a good fit for a player new to fighters whos never used a fightstick before? I am close to ordering it, I've emailed them. Its either one of these or a qanba or eightarc but im attracted to how easy hitbox makes inputs look

Since I was a PC Gamer for many years, using the Hitbox felt really natural to me. So, I can't really tell you if it's beginner friendly, because it clicked with me almost instantly. If you know how to use a keyboard or any music instrument that requires your fingers, it should be an easy transition.

On whether or not if it's a good fit for new Fighting Game players, people will always bring up the Preference line. I agree with that, but, if you have zero experience with using either a Pad/Controller or an Arcade Stick for Fighting Games. You don't really have a preference to anything right now, do you? In my opinion, I think it's a perfect fit for new players with little to no experience using a Pad or Arcade Stick.

I can tell you that your Inputs become quicker and cleaner. Much faster than either Pad or a Stick. You aren't going to be pulling off crazy ass combos with ease immediately. There is definitely a learning curve on the Hitbox. But when you do learn how to use it, you will see that it is very much worth it.

To summarize it all:
1) Easy to use from the start with Keyboard/Music Instrument experience. But it's really not that hard to use at all. If anything, it's easier to learn the Hitbox from the start, compared to learning an Arcade Stick from the start.

2) Perfect for people with no Arcade Stick experience at all, because you'll learn everything about the game while learning to use the Hitbox at the same time.

3) Inputs will become super fast and clean. No missed inputs or input errors, once you have it down.

I've played many PC games competitively and have been a pc gamer all my life, and a fast typist at 130 wpm so this logic was music to my ears and seems very correct, im definitely considering hitbox fighstick now :D

Your whole reply was great and very helpful, thanks. I look forward to Hitbox emailing me back because I without a doubt plan on purchasing one. Now I just need to figure out if i want to buy the dual platform one or the ps3 one. My brother plays on Xbox and there are some online xbox tourneys id like to participate in so i will probably go for the dual platform one.[/quote]

I never actually played anything competitively on PC. I mean, I did play CS/CS:S, Quake, etc. But I was never really good at them.

My main games were MMORPGs. So having the Jump Button at the bottom of the Hitbox made sense completely, as I was used to jumping all day with Spacebar.

So yeah, now knowing that you are definitely qualified to use a Hitbox. Go and buy it. I recommend getting the Dual-Modded Hitbox over the PS3/PC one, for sure. When I bought mine a year ago, they weren't even selling the PS360+ Model. Now I gotta spend money on trying to Dual-Mod it myself, lol.

Your brother plays on Xbox, so you want to be able to use your Hitbox all the time. Also, I'm telling you right now, if you bought an Arcade Stick instead of the Hitbox, you would've most likely regretted your purchase. If you're serious about getting better at Fighting Games, you will love the Hitbox. Guaranteed.

Ah right on, yea i played CSS, CSGO, and Guild Wars 2 competitively along with random fpses. But I can see how you hit it off with hitbox being an MMO player as well. It just seems so similar to WASD that i think it would almost come intuitively.

i really appreciate your help, I'm gonna try and buy one but they arent emailing me back yet :( I wanted to make sure if i order it i wont wait forever to get it. And I plan on getting the dual-modded one but if hitbox doesnt get back to me I saw some used ps3-onlys around online, id definitely buy one and worry about dualmodding it afterwards. Rather do that than wait like 5 weeks for dualmodded ones to come in stock (if they arent atm, still waiting for the email back...)

Thx so much for the solid replys man

Hi all! I need your help! I play only mk and igau and i like a lot ps3 controller because i never miss my inputs and it's really confortable(little, wireless), and i play a lot of pc games too so i like a lot the keyboards. ( but i dont like arcade sticks because of their stick). I just seen this hitbox http://www.hitboxarcade.com/products/hit-box-multi-console and it's look fking awesome.
It's a kind of keyboard ofcause and i wanna ask, if i should buy it for 225 $ to have a big wire keyboard for multi console or i just should save my ps3 controller? THx

I might be able to get my hands on someones barely barely barely used ps3/pc only hitbox. I play on ps3 but want to be able to play with friends who are on xbox (i have an xbox and would buy the game for it) and i know some east coast tourneys play IGAU on xbox.

I really want to get the ps3/pc only one out of impatience, rather than waiting for a dual-mod one to be made directly from hitbox, and getting it sometime at the earliest in mid june i think...

Does anyone here know of any converters that work 100% well with PS3 hitbox, or does anyone know if modding it is a safe, good idea? I know people here do the modding but is there and risk to it or does the hitbox perform worse / have input delay when played on xbox if it was originally ps3 only?

Anyone here suggest I wait to buy a dual-console one directly from Hitbox?

I suggest you do. Lol, you didn't just order it?

This is my experience with them, so obviously it could be a different story for you.

I ordered it and it looked exactly how it looks now on their site. Saying it's a Pre-order and that it'd be at least a month.

The estimate was 2+ Weeks for me. But I ended up getting it within a week. 4 days to be exact.

I'm not saying you'll get your Hitbox in less than a week, like I did. For a sure fact though, the Hitbox guys ship your Hitbox out as soon as they finish building it.

Of course, the popularity of the Hitboxes have grown. So who knows how it is now for them.

Like I said before, from you saying that you will be playing on Xbox almost as much as PS3. You will want/need the Dual-Modded one. No doubt.

It's much more than a big, wired keyboard.

The Sanwa Buttons make your Inputs super fast and always responsive. And it's very comfortable to use for long sessions in any of your favorite Fighting Games.

Look at my 2nd Reply to -LD50- for my general summary/review of the Hitbox.

If you think you'd benefit/enjoy using the Hitbox. I highly recommend you buy it. It won't let you down.

thx for help, but i think i will have little problem like with arcade sticks it's right 2 lines buttons to switch up and down but i think 1 week of playing will repeir it. Do you think it's good idea to buy it now ? Because i am not sure that it's will work for next generation of console/ and actually i am fine like i said with ps3 controller or a madcatz fight pad on xbox

Well, obviously I can't say whether or not the current Hitbox/Arcade Sticks will be able to work on Next-Gen Consoles (PS4 and Xbox One). But, they don't come out until the end of this year. If you can wait out 6 months or so, go ahead.

If you say that you're completely fine with using a PS3 Controller/Madcatz Fightpad. Keep on using those to play your games then.

The Hitbox won't make you a better player from just using it. It's just another way to play Fighting Games.

Although, the Hitbox definitely has it's advantages, for sure.
and i want to see a guy using hitbox and making crazy kabal dash cancel
Again, one of the advantages is much faster and cleaner Inputs. So you can do all the crazy stuff you want, much easier on the Hitbox than with the others.

All in all, do whatever you want to do. It's your choice man.

Your hit box will not work on the new xbox. Nobody knows about the ps4 yet for sure. However neither console is backwards compatible so remember your hit box will always work for all the games on current consoles. Mk9 will always be played on ps3 at tournament, and injustice will always be played on some type of current gen console. Plus you can always mod the hit box in the future so there's not much point worrying about that
