When I saw the new Kano on this past WNF, it seemed like the Australian Samus version of Kung Lao. Ground balls and air balls replace spins and dive kicks. Even though the ground ball looked unsafe, that Kung Lao didn't punish it correctly but maybe it was failure on his part.

Thanks for getting back on topic, ya I feel for Kano go mid-screen and bait out Wake-Up attacks I feel that that air ball is good for countering wake ups

The problem to me is that you can just keep spamming upball over and over since it recovers so quickly. I wouldn't mind if upball was safe IF you couldn't use it again after X amount of time/recovery. But you literally can just keep doing it with little to no risk. Correct me if I'm wrong.

You have enough time to d1, but you have to really react to it. Of course this isn't much of a response, but it does mean 1 thing. Upballing can cause Kano to lose heavy momentum, even though it is safe on block outside of d1.

read all of M2Daves posts in this thread. you can stop Kano from doing another up ball with every character by doing D+1. Kano can't repeatedly up ball up ball safely. you don't get any block stun from this attack like the other shitty moves in this game.

the only problem I have with the ball is that it travels too forward in the air, so it can anti air some one almost half screen away.

Kano ball is no where as bad as a character like ermac and that TKP that goes past half screen and that green spot on screen it creates, what's the point if that green shit showing in that area when it goes past that point.
let's bring up retile dash another move that's worse then up ball.

My point is that you can make a legitimate argument to tone down Kung Lao and Raiden. However, many players have been obsessed with the Up Ball lately, so that it is overshadowing everything else. The move is not "dumb stuff", by the way. I would say that the move is fairly unexplored. Kano players are the ones who have actually been doing the majority of the work as far as Up Ball punishment is concerned. All I have seen you, Sequel, and others do is whine and overreact.
The only time I use the up ball is for anti-airs and a wakeup, not because I WANT to use it as a wakeup but Kano's wakeup options are fucking garbage. How else am I supposed to get out of the corner when I'm being mixed up? Even then, you can block the damn thing and throw me.

I like how the people who are questioning Kano's buffs are being designated as the whiners. The real whiners were all the Kano players who were crying buff on a character move that was fine.

I'm fine with Kano getting the low buff, I can see why that was given. But I want to know why Kano has received a huge buff on his upward cannonball when that move was good to begin with. If NRS balances this game according to what is being cried the most via Twitter, then I may lose hope in this game faster than I originally thought. However, at the same time, I do want to make twitter accounts and cry buffs for Jade since the popular opinion is she's bad.

And why do people keep saying throw attempt is guaranteed after upball is blocked? Do you guys not properly test your own character or something?

I was never questioning the up ball, I always felt it was fine. His mixup game needed to be fixed however, B3F2 was the only improvement I wanted. I will state that his wakeup options are very poor, though. He needs something in that department, the sped up up ball isn't the plausible answer.

While throw check isn't guranteed, it certainly will discourage Kano players from actively using it so much. All of this will be irrelevent in the immediate future, however.

I don't remember Kano's players asking about Upball at all in fact if you search in this forum all of them asked for Low hit Forward FK. ALL OF Them. Ask NRS why they did it. I even said the buff was dumb, now it is not fair to Kano players to be judge for a buff that they didn't ask in the first place. Now Let them enjoy it, In fact no one in this forum has the right to come to this thread and derail it because they are mad and rain in the paradise of these players who stuck with Kano all this time. :sniper:

Edit: Kano regular cannonball has invincibility frames on wake-up so you can use that as your reversal.

Guys Quan Chi vs Kano is an interesting Match Up. For me an aggressive player took me a couple of matches vs a good Quan Chi to Understand that I have to bait him. Quan Chi needs to be unsafe to do something but if he get you with one of his combos be ready is going to hurt you.

Just another Kano player chiming in to say that I don't remember anyone asking for upball to be made safe. (In fairness, I did ask for ALL balls to be made safe on WHIFF for mobility/cross up reasons... but that's not the same thing and you know it. Also, AFAIK, I was the only one asking for that even.)

Oh... and tbh I think you guys are focusing on the wrong part of Tom Brady's quote. Screw "upball is being changed again" I'd be MUCH more concerned about "most characters will get a fast special and some full combos starting w/fast jabs and fast mids."

That's not "a buff" OR "a nerf". That's completely changing the entire game! Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing I've got no idea... but if "most" characters start being able to full combo for 30%+ off of safe ~i5-ish pokes I'd have to believe that would have a major impact on almost every single match-up.

I keep getting the idea that the UpBall is going to nerfed from what I'm reading. Where are you guys getting that info from?

In regards to Kano buff. No character should be good at everything, the low starter was really all he ever needed. This isn't me whining or anything, but they made a perfectly reasonable character with very few downsides a silly character. The best and most interesting thing about him before was he was a solid zoner that dealt damage of he needed to up close. However, for all that zoning if he got knocked down he struggled to get away. I really liked that aspect about him. I think that a D+1 punish for a move like that is ridiculous but we can't patch the game ourselves. So whatever I guess.

I don't have any experience with quan other then online. His low to overhead is pretty nasty and a pain to block sometimes and people seem to abuse it online after a close tele. I am pretty sure he has only one wake up attack (could be wrong) tele which is a easy 30% + punish.

His trance is punishable from pretty far out with kano ball and up close b112 works great. His trance will kill your air ball so be careful with those.

yeah. He really got me in the first two matches. It was odd and I was wondering wtf I was doing wrong. His teleport game is really important to beat Kano. He has to bait me to fell for it. Quan Chi match up vs Kano is interesting because is about baiting and taking risk.
I fought one Quan Chi, once, I was and still am horribly unfamilar with the character. He tea bagged the ground, then proceeded to slap me at the end of the match. No rematch, naturally! Fuckin' online.
 
I'm having trouble with pressure from some characters. Sometimes it seems like Kano can just be crossed up all day. Up Kano ball just puts me an an awkward position sometimes too. I wish he still had that little lazer from mkdc. What i have found that works awesome for pressure is the EX choke but once i'm blocking it's hard to get outta pressure.

hmm with the new upball you shouldnt have to worry about being crossed up or have problems with pressure, his up ball is faster then any pressure attack.. you could just being dealing with annoying lag :/ or im just stupid and dont know shit.. however i been using kano for a while now..

Whiffing an air ball to get out of the corner can work nicely, you can also use the EX up ball to hop over.
