Activision: Treyarch Not Recognized Enough For Modern Warfare 2

Many gamers still hold the idea that developer Treyarch is still the little brother of Infinity Ward when it comes to creating the Call of Duty games. Publisher Activsion is trying to set the record straight and give the Black Ops developer the recognition that they deserve.

Activision CEO Bobby Kotick said that Treyarch played an important role when working with Infinity Ward on Modern Warfare 2‘s online component. He also stated that the substandard view of Treyarch is simply “unfair.”

“That’s an unfair view of Treyarch. You know it’s not really an objective view. Treyarch contributed so significantly to the multiplayer technology that’s in Modern Warfare 2 and they didn’t really get the credit for that.”

Besides, Treyarch’s growth as a team can be easily demonstrated with the broken sales record that they achieved with Black Ops. For more information about their latest title, check out our full review of Call of Duty: Black Ops and see why we agree with Bobby Kotick.

The fact that they messed up quick scoping with the Sniper is probably why I'm not going to get this game. Not only did they ruin quick scoping, sniping is incredibly retarded now. It's just nowhere near as fun, kinda boring actually. There's no reason they should have taken out quick scoping, so until they fix that I'm done with Black Ops.

Yea i hear ya Juggs.. This game isn't for everybody..

Just so you know, sniper is "NOT" an all purpose weapon.. It's meant To kick back and hold down areas, death from a distance.. Im sorry to hear that you and a good majority of people on this site have no versatility with the guns, it's actually a really good game.. I mean, it's on the mlg circuit already, it must be a pretty good game, ya think:)

It really is a great game. After a week of playing it, I might sell MW2.

Sticks and Stones Wager Matches are great.

Split screen MP works pretty damn well.

Hardline pro is one of the best perks to get.

I'm just blazed and want to play NOW.

Since CoD2 the sniper has been relatively the same. In Black Ops it's fucking terrible, what was the purpose in them doing this? Other than to be dicks to people who snipe? My k/d is 2.40 so I have plenty of versatility. It's just boring raping people with sub machine guns and assault rifles, takes little skill. There's no reason they should have nerfed sniping. The game is great despite that and the netcode.

Treyarch’s shake at addressing the issues with its latest title, Call of Duty: Black Ops, hasn’t gone according to plan as there have been plenty of issues surrounding matchmaking, server stability, glitches, and more. Thankfully, a new patch is now live which rectifies a handful of these reported issues.

* Prevention of Combat Training stats getting crossed with Player Match stats under rare conditions
* Prevention of temporary loss of functionality when a button was being held down at the point of a disconnect

Show Off Your Superiority with Call of Duty: Black Ops Prestige Icons

The Call of Duty series has been known for its addictive leveling and unlock system which has been one of several attributes that have made the multiplayer portion so popular over the years. The Prestige system is a staple of the series, and allows veteran players to show-off their dozens if not hundreds of hours of time spent playing.

Below is the entire list of Prestige icons that can be unlocked in Call of Duty: Black Ops:

These are in order starting with Prestiege level 1-15:

Treyarch’s Black Ops Takes In $650 Million In Five Days

Activision has released the initial sales figure for Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops, and the revenue that has already been generated by the FPS is truly breathtaking.

Last year, Infinity Ward managed to draw in around $550 million from Modern Warfare 2 in its first five days. Black Ops, however, has dwarfed its predecessor’s success in just under a week’s time. In just a mere five days, Treyarch’s popular shooter title has already garnered $650 million world-wide and managed to smash sales records across the entertainment spectrum including theatrical box office movies and books.

Activision’s CEO, Bobby Kotick has lauded praises for Black Ops’ massive success.

Call of Duty has become the first entertainment property in history to set five-day launch records for two consecutive years across all forms of entertainment.

The title’s success illustrates the mass appeal of interactive entertainment as millions of consumers are choosing to play Call of Duty: Black Ops at unprecedented levels rather than engage in other forms of media.

The number of people playing online and the number of hours they are playing demonstrates how online gaming has become a mainstream form of entertainment and certainly validates Activision Blizzard’s leadership role in online entertainment.

To say that Treyarch is enjoying a moderate success is definitely an understatement, however Activision continues to remain cautious going into the holiday months. Indeed they are “excited about the performance of Call of Duty: Black Ops, but given that it is still very early in the holiday shopping season, the company remains cautiously optimistic.”

Hmm... Sniper don't really seem that useless to me.
Exactly... Nice vid mang. Snipe may take a lil more skill, but it's still very much usefull.. Ive run into guys like that, except they were holding down an area on the map, which i couldn't penetrate.. Much like cod4.

I still don't understand why they focused so much on the Sniping. The only reason people complained is because there was millions of little kids trying to quick scope in MW2, and 95% of them sucked at it. So people, including myself, would get frustrated when you have some wannabe Grizz on your team that doesn't get the objective, and/or goes horribly negative trying to quick scope. So that aspect I get. The less than 10% of people who are actually good at sniping/quick scoping, I see no problem with. It's not exactly easy mode to quick scope successfully and be consistent with it. I will admit that it's really way too easy in MW2, but it was just fine in CoD4 and WaW.

CoD has always been a twitch shooter, even with the Snipers. Black Ops is less of a twitch shooter in general considering how little damage the guns do. Though the snipers feel like no CoD game I've played. It would be completely fine if they just took out SoHP on snipers, but when you scope in, your reticle sways so much that not only is it not where it should be based on where it was before you scoped in, it yanks so far off target it's ridiculous. You literally have to wait 4 seconds before you can kill someone after you start scoping in.

Players who don't snipe see this as no problem, there's no reason they should. It actually helps them because they won't be killed by snipers very often and there won't be little kids on their team getting pooped on trying to quick scope. But I mean, people have been sniping since CoD2, and there's been "quick scoping" ever since. As I said, it's kinda OP in MW2, only if you know what you're doing. But it's really only because of SoHP.

Shit, they could even have a gametype for sniping only. Like team snipers in Halo. Where the sniping acts like CoD4, WaW or MW2 w/o SoHP. I could dig that.
