I work at a restaurant, we do to go orders now. Anyone at work is there VOLUNTARILY and anyone who goes out to eat there is also doing so by CHOICE, not necessity, fuckin spare me dude. Saying "nah" doesn't give any of us without guaranteed financial stability a pass from working.
I feel you. I think you misunderstood me man -- some people have to work, but if you get sick or suspect you're sick, you should definitely not go and put everybody else and their loved ones at risk.

@karaokelove put it well.

I think you all are arguing two different points. You're talking about healthy people still going to work because you've gotta pay the bills, which is totally understandable. And he's talking about how irresponsible it is to go to work when you think you've got this highly contagious disease that will spread to your coworkers and put them in your situation, as well as infecting your customers.

I think part of the disagreement might be cultural. @Hellbringer isn't from the US, and I'm sure his healthcare system is better suited to helping the citizens deal with this pandemic without endangering themselves or others. Unfortunately, here in the US, our healthcare system is totally fucked and results in people having to put themselves and others at risk to avoid becoming homeless. I keep reading stories about "essential" workers that died from the virus, and when a family member goes to pick up their last paycheck, it's for something around $20. Utter lunacy.
I can definitely see that, this is a far more tactful version of what I wanted to say.

@Hellbringer @CrimsonShadow I'm sorry for responding like a fucking lunatic.

That is a copy/paste of my response to Crimson. I'll expand on it a little since you clearly didn't read it.
  • My co workers and I that are there have already consented to any of the potential repercussions and are only there cause we got bills to pay. Our temperatures are taken at the beginning of each shift (far from perfect because as Crimson pointed out, everyone's resting temperature is different, but it's something). Masks, gloves, and glasses at all times obviously.
  • The customers that go there aren't carrying out essential business, it's not like we're running around a grocery store spitting on people. Seeing as a $100 plus steak dinner isn't a necessity and is once again... a CHOICE, any customer that goes there is accepting any potential risks as well.
In summary, all the workers there aren't being forced and are only there because they need to be. Not everyone's in the position to not work. If you leave your house, that's on you. If you have to work to make ends meet, that's what you have to do. I'm a full time college student and depended on being a full time waiter as well to make it happen, my classes are still happening online, shit isn't free, so yeah working is the ONLY option.

If you're fortunate enough to not have to work a lot, then do it. I'm a lot better off than a lot of my co workers financially so I've been working as little as possible so they could get the hours they need during this cutback, but it is still absolutely a thing. People who have to work still don't deserve anyone's judgement.
Sorry i forgot that when u live in america u cant call sick, especially not when theres a worldwide pandemic my bad

This entire briefing is a shit-show. Tough to find a moment to highlight, but this was a pretty good one:

I notified all of my coworkers and boss, everyone I come into contact with, that I wasn’t feeling well so to keep 6ft away. I only usually come into contact with 3 other people, 1 in which is my brother. They all took it seriously and I wasn’t within 10ft of anyone all day. And I’m not even confirmed to have anything, but was precautious anyway. Just fyi. Also as I said, taking tomorrow off. @Hellbringer @CrimsonShadow

I’ve also been super cautious from the rip. Wearing a mask in public, constantly using hand sanitizer before and after leaving a store, using disposable gloves, etc. I have not been irresponsible at all, the exact opposite in fact. Also been wiping down my work truck inside every day with cleaning supplies, been cleaning my phone, controller, remote, door knobs, etc etc. I’ve been OVERLY cautious in fact.

A lot of what Trump says is confusing, he uses far too many generic adjectives and strange interjections. Im not sure how transparent a President should be, but surely its more than this.
Yeah I had no idea wtf he was going on about.

One thing I do kinda agree with Trump on is the people who called him xenophobic when he finally did ban travel are absolute glue eaters.

Dr. Fauci will be next. Trump hates being called out on his stupidity and lies.
I feel so bad for that man. Death threats from idiots he's trying to protect from themselves, Trump retweeting someone's post about firing him, when he had to say on the news he isn't being fired you could tell that wasn't him speaking, he was parroting what he was told to say.

It's like we are in mid-evil times with churches and ignorant people demonizing medicine men.

I am already at work man, lol. Also, found out the drive through testing place is charging fucking $185. What a bunch of garbage people. The tests in legitimate places are free. Smh
A couple of months ago, I went to emergency care because I had a high fever, persistent cough, and shortness of breath because of the influenza B virus. The doctor ordered me to stay at home for more than a week, yet my health insurance, which is supposed to be one of the better ones in the country, sent me a bill for $3,000+ claiming that the emergency visit did not justify an emergency criterion. LOL. Nonetheless, I consider myself fortunate but feel so bad for many fellow Americans who are being abused by the country's healthcare system.

Please get well soon and best of luck.

In the meantime, John Oliver delivers again...

"The decision to have the paper checks bear Trump’s name, in the works for weeks, according to a Treasury official, was announced early Tuesday to the IRS’s information technology team. The team, working from home, is now racing to implement a programming change that two senior IRS officials said will probably lead to a delay in issuing the first batch of paper checks. They are scheduled to be sent Thursday to the Bureau of the Fiscal Service for printing and issuing.

Computer code must be changed to include the president’s name, and the system must be tested, these officials said. “Any last minute request like this will create a downstream snarl that will result in a delay,” said Chad Hooper, a quality-control manager who serves as national president of the IRS’s Professional Managers Association."

....just checked my bank account. I got a stimulus check direct deposit- which is weird because I make significantly more than the cutoff??

EDIT
I think it's due to adjusted income after taxes which would make sense.

I had done my taxes and looks like it was Direct Deposited.

Needing his name on the checks is about as pure an example of what drives him as anything else could be. You want to be shocked by it, but all I can think is "of course."

There is enough chatter about it that maybe the idea gets revisited.
