I WILL EAT THIS GAME
It seems to me that a lot of you want MK9 Reptile and anything less won't suffice.

Which is hilarious, since all the Reptile community of MK9 did was downplay and talk about how bad their potential top 10 character was.
Maaaaaaan. That brings back memories...

I honestly would love to see MK9 Reptile. He'd be a lot more interesting.

This argument has more sides than a box full of boxes.
And what's fucked up is a reasonable argument can be and has been made for almost all of them by knowledgable people.
But I still have to side with Zilla. As he exists now, there is no appeal to Reptile for anyone who doesn't already bleed green. He isn't powerful or exciting enough to garner any momentum, and the most notable thing he's done thus far in this game is finally get a UMK3 skin, and nothing short of at least one or two really useful tweaks or having Deceptive replaced entirely with that fake Iron Skin variation leak is going to change that anytime soon. In the future down the line, he may get his fair praise just like he did in MK9, but for now? Nope.

Maybe I'll have something to say ... Probably not
Btw chris G got top 8 at NWM 7 as reptile, so this character is far from fucking bottom 5.
Chris G also did well with Green Arrow
He also does well with Sakura in usf and neither of them are top 5 or even 10

Chris G is just a very fundamentally good player and that goes a hell of a long way. Especially in the early stages of a games life.

I hope Reptile buffs start by buffing the variation specific specials or by adding more differences.

I think all his variation specials should come out faster so they can be used more regularly outside of combos. This would already be a good buff to all variations.

You should be able to hold all force balls for as long as you want and cancel them too. Also stopping force balls should not require meter and you should be able to input the command to stop the force ball before it even comes out resulting in the ball stopping right in front of reptile.

Noxious variation could have EX acid spit replaced with a acid spit that leaves the opponent standing and stunned, kinda like the brutality, allowing noxious to get a combo off of it. This variation doesn't really need the dot acid puddle since he has a variation special for dot aura.

The noxious specials should get a dot damage increase.

Invisibility should last until you are hit. Ex invisibility should absorb 3 hits of damage before being revealed. Also the armor on startup should last longer.

Also if Reptile does a combo, when the damage percentage goes over 25% he should go reg invisible automatically during the combo.

Nimble should get safe ex dashes that switch positions with the opponent like in mk9. It could also get armor.

Annnnnd...

still no one has explained WHY he's not bottom 5, but instead... top 10. lol

The only "arguments" for that side have basically been... "get gud". If the OP (and ppl that agree with him) are SOOOO off base, then how about some enlightenment in here and prove why? Then maybe all the ridiculous asking for buffs to such an amazing character would stop?

I can't believe he didn't receive a single buff in the recent hotfix.

That is all.

I only use the deceptive reptile on the side and i have so much trouble finding times to be invisible

Reptile might be bottom five (personally, I doubt it, but whatever), but if he is he's not that far behind.

In my eyes, Reptile only "needs" better Forceballs (even if EX only) and some form of safety on db2 (which would still be minus, but at least builds meter and isn't death on block) to be reasonable. I'd personally like ED to be a frame faster--the risk/reward feels sketchy--but that's only my opinion (the recovery on whiff might be overkill, too). The only major change I'd want to see is some kind of overhaul on db4.

I'm not sold on db4. I don't know if anybody is. Its status as an overhead feels..."tacked-on"? Compared to his own b2, it's slow, and nauseatingly unsafe. Whenever you'd want to use it in neutral, it's relatively easy to be caught and punished. The damage and knockdown gained if they fail isn't anything to write home about. If it were a mid I don't think it would change its utility that much. I hate to bring MK9 into this again, but the similar-looking weeaboo slash (f3, 1+2) was around +8. That may be asking too much, but I think something like that would give db4 more purpose.

I also feel like EX ED is lacking, but it has a use here and there so whatever

He needs faster pokes, armor on his Reptilian Dash, and some more variance between his "Variations" Maybe one stance should have better zoning for example; faster forceballs or ones that can charge and increase in size like MK9 for anti-airs..

...
Reptile is not bad at all. If he's bottom five then the game is very well balanced. This OP buff list is hugely over the top

Improve some frame data on normals and his quality of life improves dramatically. Could he use more? Sure, but that's the bare minimum. I can't believe they didn't tweak his slow ass pokes.

I mean, I'd love a 6f dash and an overhead klaw as much at the next guy ...

You know I value your opinion man but cmoooon how could you possibly think he's good?! Haha he's not shitter but imo def below average
I just don't feel like he's this weak character. I'm like yeah this stuff could suck but then I think about who I feel he struggles against and who he doesn't...I feel like he's not that bad off.

I guess cuz I'm thinking more along the lines of matchups than a flat out comparison of tools.
