She's THAT bad in Mournful? I was actually going to look into it next to see what she could do.

If she had Variation specific strings that used the staff, that would be something, but it basically takes away your fans and gives you glaves. and gives you Jades staff throw and Kick move from MK9, thats it.

She has way better tools in her other 2 variations.

like even some bad Liu Kangs, it's just a simple 3 punch combo, but it seems entirely too safe; his pressure is crazy.
His normals are simply dumb. Why his b2 is an overhead is beyond me. It's that backfist he does. It's not the db2, but just the b2 that's an overhead. Like...it clearly hits mid, but it's an overhead? lolwut

Have you checked his frame data? He's barely unsafe on anything. He's 0, + or barely -. I think he's going to be a problem in general for a lot of characters.

I'm not saying he's top tier or anything, because we're obviously unable to determine that at this point. I just think he's going to have some REALLY fucking good footsies.

See I play Assassin, so I have Princess Parry; but there isn't enough time to put it up. It's just ridiculous. Honestly, I think he will end up top tier.

That's the issue I'm having in either Royal Storm or Assassin. The parries are NOT active right away like they were in Injustice. I don't know if that's intended or what, however. You have to hold the projectile reflect for a good second or two before it will reflect anything.

Yes, and I'm super sore about it. This was the perfect game for a Billy Kane-style Jade but they decided to bring shitheads like Sonya and Cage back instead of my swarthy supervixen. I thought the whole point of Cassie and Jaqui was too nix the... FUCK IT WE'LL DO IT LIVE.

2. How do I press my offense after I poke with d1 / d3 / d4?
3. What's her best punish for each style?

just a couple things i noticed.

Kitanas fan doesnt get wiped out by subbys ice ball, her up lift shatters the ice clone.

im really upset over the start up frames on the Projectile bounce back in royal storm, seems like the only time im able to reflect is when i have it out before they toss out their fireball, which is dumb.

when using her Klassic costume i seem to miss the f33 sometimes during combos, its probably just me though..

whos ever idea it was to make Uplift d,b+1 you are a GENIUS!! when those mother fuckers teleport behind me and that uplift catches them O_O how dare you try to stop my zoning!!

Yeah, same with the parry. I feel like you should be able to meter burn both for a faster startup.

Her combos are pretty much the same excluding the mournful variation.

After any down poke on hit, use a guaranteed string like F223 or grab.
Her best punish varies from 111,21,F112, or grab.

Her uppercut is a fantastic antiair. Fan lift requires really good reactions or a read, or your going to get punched in the mouth.

Of course all the normal tricks apply. Air to air jK is strong, jP has a long reach as well, both cancellable into air fan for a full combo, spaced late b4 will low profile the jump in and trip guard the opponent on their landing recovery, getting you a knockdown

Best punish is dependant on your frame window to punish. 111 is her fastest punish string at 7f, f112 is a safe full combo punish. Using throw as a punish I'm not sure about? Apparently opponent can still tech in recovery if they guess right on throw direction, but not if they were blocking? If anyone can clear that up...?

You cannot tech a throw when you're in recovery, either block or whiff. There is a bone crunching sound effect that plays when you first grab that signifies the throw is a punish.

I wonder how well Sonya's parries work against him.
Kitana's parry is 17 frames on startup, Garrote parry is 5 frames (3f on MB).
I've played both, and I rarely find myself using princess parry, especially not against frame traps. I've yet to find a good use for it.

You can cancel a blockstring into it to try to punish people trying to punish you. Just throwing it out there is pretty bad.

It may just be latency but it feels like Kitana's normals are really ass. Everything but her downpokes and 1 / f1 are twenty something frames and get beaten out for free if you try to use them naked.
Unless a better player puts me straight with her I may drop her for Cassie before I end up raging over it like I did with Jade lol

Fair is overrated
d1 is a really good poke, on hit gives enough frame advantage to keep pressure/mixup going, on block will be hard to punish when spaced correctly

b4 is a sweep, it's pretty fast and has a good hitbox that I've seen. Kitana doesn't have a ton of low options that provide great reward, so its a good way to keep your opponent honest in footsies

f2 has huge reach, great for backdash/walk back punishing someone's poke or whiffed string

including 1, b1, f1, thats a good amount of normals and string starters that have a solid purpose. Kitana's the type of character that requires some time to learn how to space yourself properly and move well in order to be played effectively. She's going to get her clean hits alot through good spacing since her mixup isn't particularly strong.

Picked up Kitanna but i am having trouble opening up the opponent and doing combo damage. I have no idea what to do to get things going. I have the fan situation down though :D

Any help lol ?
