What's new

"High Voltage" developing PS3/Xbox 360 versions of Mortal Kombat X (also dev'd INJ for PS4)

Erm, I believe in one of the earlier interviews with Boon he stated that they were working on the PC version as well.
Boon actually said that the PC version is being developed by another company, and he _thought_ it was High Voltage Software but couldn't perfectly remember.

Since Mortal Kombat X is coming out on all five platforms on Apr. 14th, and it's not a port, I'm optimistic. Being a brand new release as well, we'll likely see some regular patching for all platforms around the same time, which is also encouraging.

Ah, alright. I thought he was asked and he said they were developing it. But I guess that's not the case. Thanks for clearing it up.

Well that's the thing: they might be! He can't remember. Considering they've done enough work with NetherRealm Studios before and are doing the last gen versions of Mortal Kombat X, I figure it'll be likely.

I'm really worried about the PC port.
That's the thing though, it's not a port. A port is bringing a title to another platform after release. This is launching on launch day and likely under NetherRealm's direction like with the last gen consoles.

Obviously we'll see, but I suspect it'll be fine. There will be bugs, but even NetherRealm's games have had issues and bugs at launch. The question is will said issues and bugs be game breaking or not.

One of my bigger concerns will be if PC gets patches the same time as consoles

I wonder how the balancing/patching is gonna go. Is Nrs going to tell the other devs what to change?

There is no confirmed information on PC version as for now, so this is just speculations nothing more. One thing thou - porting doesn't have to be done after release. Game can be just finished quicker (most NRS games is pretty much done like 2 months before release) and send to the other company to make other version. Especially that with current gen being basically a PC hardware wise, so this process is quite fast actually (and cheap for that matter). This would still qualify for being a port.

But anyway lets wait for official confirmation who's doing the PC version.

Showtime Studios is handling the PC version, no idea who they are tho
Show me where is that confirmed by anybody from NRS/WB? Coz to my knowledge this is only speculation at this point, nothing more.

I'm fairly sure this has been known for a while.

But this is practically confirmation that the PS3/360 versions will be even more inferior than already expected. Hope people stay far away.

Your mothers main.

Yep people say it's gonna be this Showtime Studio doing PC version but when you actually dig in a bit you will see there is no evidence of that. It's just a rumor at this point and no developer was confirmed for PC MK X by NRS/WB at this point.

I believe the only confirmed information is what's on Steam, but yes, everything else is speculation.

One thing though, the Xbox 360 and current generation, so PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, are all basically a PC. I believe only the PlayStation 3 differs with its Cell Processor.

Would be great to get a answer to who is doing the PC version from NRS. Considering we know who does all the other versions by now there shouldn't be any reason they can not tell us about it by now.

People need to upgrade to the PS4 or X-Box One ASAP(unless you are a PC gamer). No better time than now with MKX coming. I wouldn't put my faith in ported games, but I wish for the best for everyone playing on the 360/PS3.

Next gen consoles are pricy, but in a generation where people working average jobs drop $400+ on cell phones every year, $120+ on new shoes once or twice a year and still get by, then it shouldn't be that hard to get the scratch together for a new console that will be relevant for at least three to four years.

I don't anything about the Gen compatibility issues since I had no part of IGAU. That said, I'm looking at MKX for x360, but are you guys implying that there will be major issues playing online just because it's Last Gen? If I get into a match with someone using a x1 while I'm on x360, then combos, techs, cancels, etc., won't work properly? What if I'm playing x360 to x360, it'll be fine? Also, my Qanba 4 isn't compatible with the new consoles (unless an adapter is made). Any links to threads or sites about this issue?

I'm not sure if you're being serious or not, but there is no cross play with MKX. Meaning, Xbox One owners can only play other Xbox One owners.
