Also, Arrow is a huge massive steaming bill of fucking goods and I am borderlined offended at the amount of praise it gets.
That show is a complete and total regression of the green arrow character back into being a poor man's batman knockoff. It completely robs the character of all personality and the cynical wit that made him unique and interesting in his own right and allowed him to endure in spite of his questionable origins. Now don't get me wrong, I'm a huge batman fan but I am completely disgusted with how between it and Man of Steel WB seems to be convinced that making everyone more and more like Batman is somehow the answer. The whole point of something like Justice League or Avengers is that its a team of unique and diverse personalities that come and work together in spite of and because of there differences. Thankfully the TV and film universes will be kept separate but just imagine if they hadn't been. TV Green Arrow is pointlessly redundant in a universe where the real Batman exists.
The Flash television show has been a godsend in this regard. It does have a number of typical CW pitfalls like a love triangle and will they/wont they romance which is right out of every single one of their shows playbook and is already tiresome....but its also the first superhero property from DC i've seen in forever which whole-heartedly embraces the goofiness of the comic book universe its in and,
gasp, actually has a hero who really *REEAAAAALLY* enjoys being a Superhero and doesn't even pretend like he wants to go back to a normal life.
As for Gotham, I actually can see a lot of the points being brought up against it and it might just be the fact that I went in with such low expectations...but overall I still really like it. I like the fact that it mixes elements of goofy comic scifi/fantasy with gritty noir because, lets be serious here, that's kind of how Gotham always has been in the comics. The dialouge can be a little hamfisted at times but overall I really think the cast does a solid job at selling it (bullock especially) and I agree that this is probably the best version of penguin we've ever seen. I do agree with whoever said that smith is waaaaay too over the top. Like...I'm not exactly sure what show she even thinks shes in but I hope she doesn't last past this season.
