I almost wanted to put this in the Komedy Central section because it's so stupid it's funny.

Edit: To avoid anyone getting all uptight about this, allow me to say this: I don't believe in corporations lying to their consumers. However, suing over it and for the amount they're suing for is completely overboard.

*Facepalm* Im surprised that Rockstar didnt get sued b/c they dont have heists yet in GTA V online when online debut. Sure I was pissed b/c they didnt have it yet but im not gonna complain and bitch b/c that feature wasn't added yet. Same thing for Battlefield 4 and how the saved files erases all your unlocks and ranks etc.

They really need a penalty for when you lose a stupid ass case like this. Y'know, that way people are less inclined to even attempt it.

Seriously, who fucking cares if it wasn't at the resolution they said it would be in? Then suing for $5 million? REALLY? It's an obvious cash grab attempt.

Ikr, smh. ppl should only do that to food companies if you buy a certain product and if you get food poisoning from that, then you can sue. A realistic case, but something as small as that? Come the fuck on...

I don't see what's so funny about it. I mean if they promised 1080p or used high res to promote the game/mode and didn't deliver that's false advertising and it's about time that consumers do something about it.

I hope he wins this case and more people sue game companies for lying to players' faces. They need to stop this trend of showing pretty things you aren't really getting. Like severly toning down the graphics, promising exciting modes and features that end up being not even 1% of what was promised etc.

It's an annoying trend and it's becoming a real issue in the video game industry tbh. There needs to be a deterrent otherwise companies can just get away with any lie to sell their half assed product.

How is it affecting his experience? Does it alter the way the game plays? No. It's eye candy. How does it affect him at all in any shape or form? It. Doesn't.

Yes, they didn't deliver on the resolution they promised, but give me a break, this is taking it too far.

I'm wondering if they actually said Native 1080p multiplayer or just native 1080p. Because the campaign is 1080p, if I recall correctly and the multiplayer is like 920p or something weird (something that you LITERALLY CANNOT TELL THE FUCKING DIFFERENCE BETWEEN IF NOBODY FUCKING KNEW UNTIL GUERILLA SAID SOMETHING). Welp, with Congress, once again taking a 5 week break, and Republicans leading polls, I think I'm off to kill myself guys. When I'm on here tomorrow, you'll be talking to my ghost because this is pretty damn close to my kind of hell (demons and spooky things don't scare me, and I'd actually enjoy that)

Well, with Ebola, the massacre on the Gaza Strip, and WWIII becoming a possibility, I feel like there needs to be some perspective between that and my copy of Killzone Shadowfall outputting at 900somethingp while playing online instead of 1080

Lol if a person can win the case against subway b/c their 5 dollar foot long wasnt a foot long.....i can see this winning lol MURICA
I can see that one because it was blatant false advertising for possibly years. This was misleading (story mode is 1080p, someone correct me otherwise)

Story mode is 1080p, but apparently, the multiplayer is "blurry to the point of distraction." REALLY?

I love the part where it said if he'd known it wasn't 1080p, "he wouldn't have bought it, or paid substantially less for it."
Entitled little cunt, in't he?

I don't see this going well for him.
Agreed. If 1080p is that important to him, he should be a PC gamer.

Malicious Prosecution.

Except if it was advertised as 1080p but wasn't then they would have a case.

I don't see a problem with wanting some accountability from these "video game" companies that live to screw you over.
I don't have anything against someone wanting accountability from the companies. But suing for $5 million over something like a game's resolution? There has to be a line drawn somewhere.

I don't see how anyone thinks that amount is okay for something so trivial.

This kind of shit actually disgusts me. This is why i'm so glad to live in a country where you can't file lawsuits for bullshit. 5 million dollars for this... From the sounds of things Americans can sue anyone for basically anything

I can understand wanting accountability and speaking out against a company because they lied to the consumer, but 5 mil? lol. It will be thrown out immediately. He should have sued for 5 bucks..might have won :DOGE

Sure, in this case it's just about petty graphics. But that doesn't change the fact that they often lie about gameplay too.

The most obvious example is how they hyped Kinect to be really revolutionary and amazing. Of course now when they try to lie about Kinect 2 nobody believes them anymore because we all know it's gonna play like shit. But it's the principle that any company can just say anything and make false promises to sell their product without any real backlash aside from complaints after purchase.

5 million is between 1/6 and 1/20 of the budget of a small triple A title. It really isn't that much for a big gaming company especially if they've sold more than a million copies. 3 million copies sold at 60$ is 180 million profit. Maybe they should've asked for a little less but I would not ask for less than a million. :)
