I'm not saying they don't have songs that aren't metal and have a few mainstream songs, but a decent amount of their songs are metal.
I heard one of their albums is a bit more metal sounding, if I wasn't listening to something else I'd check, but usually there's a blurry line between hard rock and modern mainstream metal. I'm not one of those people who hates on wikipedia, but I definitely don't trust it as far as metal genres are concerned though.

This.

Pretty much nailed it.

I'm bored with The Satanist. It's too similar to their last album. I love Behemoth and I rip them off a fair amount in my blackened sludge project but they haven't lived up to Denigod yet IMO.

Maybe I just need to give it time to grow on me...

Anyway, new Wolvhammer came out today. Don't know how I feel about it yet. Really straightforward and simple, but moody and esoteric as fuck.

Demigod is straight-up evil. I remember the first time I heard Slaves Shall Serve, my earphones were in, it was loud as fuck and I wasn't expecting it... the intro literally made me go numb with fear for a second.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that shits myself when I hear demonic speech. The one track on Goatwhore's album "Funeral Dirge For A Rotting Sun" has that shit too. It's malevolent.

By the way, anyone hear the new Goatwhore album? If so, is it worth picking up?

Just going through their stuff I can hear some parts that sound metalish but for the most part I would say they are rock. Maybe alternative metal if you think it counts as metal(I dont personally : p)

I'm in a phase where I'm listening to Dragged into Sunlight non-stop...

"Kill! Every! Cunt!"

So vile and heavy...

Just ordered this shirt...

Alright now that I'm home. yeah this band is overrated, but they're one of the first bands to establish this genre. Waiting for their latest album. I'm talking of course of, Canibal Corpse.

When it comes to thrash, Havok is one of the latest thrashers that brought it back again. I like every known thrash metal band out there, but these guys just have this raw energy that is hard to find in bands nowadays.
Gonna see them live in October for the second time ever. Can't freaking wait!

Among the Death Metal scene yeah. people seem to hate them just because they've been the closest to making death metal a mainstream genre.
Ehh I wouldnt say that. Most people would be put off by the vocals instantly.

And I was more referring to their skill as a band. Alex Webster is one of if not the best bassist in metal still.

And I agree. it's how generally speaking people seem to feel towards them.
Again agree, Alex is amazing. His side project Conquering Distopia really shows his skill as he gets to do what he doesn't get to do in CC.

Yeah Conquering is crazy. I regret not going to see them when they were touring with Animals as Leaders
