So many bills of goods on these theoretical bad Bane matchups. No one here thinks Bane loses to Shazam.

Ya Shazam and Bane go Even. There are people that think its in Shazams Favor. Even i used to but after playing against grr and talking to Doom about it i realized why it was only a 5-5. Which i fine IMO. Im okay with a 5-5. But people who think its in Shazams favor dont understand the MU.

Confirmed where/how? No one is playing these matchups offline. No one is playing these matchups with the top Bane.

Bane - Ares sucks for Bane. I dunno for sure how bad it is, but I do know I'm going straight back to Ares if I ever have to play a Bane in tournament. That's the only match up that you'll ever hear me argue that Ares wins.

edit: I haven't played the match up with "the top Bane" but I do play it offline

I'll throw in my opinion since this is a hot topic...

A big part of Bane players' problems is in our adolescence we treat every MU the same, rush in and fuck you up, knock you down, and fuck you up some more. Teleporters avoid this meta.

This is why early on, Shazam seemed like a bad match up. "I can't do anything on wake-up!!" It's whatever, you know who can't even play the game for most of the match? Shazam. He gets out footsied and can't torpedo. I punished one yesterday for 65%. 5-5 or Bane adv.

Ares... never played one, no idea how it goes, could be Shazam all over again, or maybe something would make Ares win, would be interesting to play @Mr Aquaman...

Zatanna... Not sure, for the longest I have been saying it might be 9-1 online, but I'm not convinced offline. Like, what is so wrong with Bane as a rushdown character, that HE has problems against her that other rushdowners don't have? Its a very fundamental MU as far as I can tell, you get in, she runs away.

This could be the young Bane syndrom + online lag where the Bane player has such a hard-on to get in, but because of:
  • basic spacing,
  • footsies,
  • get up for free wake-up,
  • decent zoning,
  • hard to react to teleports (and other zoning tools that benefit the zoner due to lag)
online by Zatanna, this could be what makes the MU look overwhelming. Either way I'm not convinced.

Superman... Haven't played a good set with one yet. Online is also whatever because you can't punish a whiffed f2. Offline if you whiff a f2 in front of me, you lose 50%+... same as a whiffed rising grab. His trait is good but once he is in the grinder, he can't activate it to break armor. I'm not convinced either way as I can't play a top superman offline.

Sinestro... I don't know, I got mopped up by Pig and Wound, but I've only played less than 50 offline games with these guys' Sinestro and probably less than 100 in my life. Could be bad, not convinced.

Many things unexplored for Bane seem bad at first. When the Bane players study the match-up, they usually have tools to make it even or win. Not every match is armor up and go ham.

I don't know a whole lot about the Bane-Shazaam match up, but thing that I think probably makes Ares better against Bane is that Ares actually has legitimate zoning and keepaway tools to use against Bane.
Shazaam gets up for free and run away well, but once he's done that all he has are those lightning bolts he throws and he can't win the match with those. So he ends up having to come in and try to play footsies and gets fucked up and even once Shazaam gets his knockdown he can't even play his oki game the way he wants because Bane has good wake ups.

Once Ares gets up and out he actually has stuff he can do. MB Fireball and Straight Axe and Straight Sword are all really solid options in this match up, and then on top of that he's got all sorts shenanigans and mind games with trait dash cancels and teleports and invisibility that all work pretty well on Bane. From the standpoint of Ares player Bane is almost perfectly designed to be forced to deal with all of Ares zoning and keep away. There are so many tools in this game(teleports, ground tridents, air dashes, double jumps, etc) that make Ares ranged game near useless but Bane doesn't have any of them. He even has a huge hit box that makes Axe do more chip and have more pushback


The other thing is that Ares has even better wake ups than Shazam in this mu. He has 4 teleports instead of two so even if you read the teleport it's a guess and Ares always mb teleport which you can't really do anything about and guarantees you can't keep him in the corner.

Ares bane in the end could end up even. Offline I run sets with Grr a few times and Bipolar and Rev online constantly. I lose to bipolar often because online teleporting perfectly is impossible. But both of you guys @GGA Max and @4x4lo8o are both correct to me. Teleporters avoid this meta." My words exacty for the MU are Ares takes away banes Meta. I havent worked on it in awhile and I might be free as hell in the MU since learning stick, ive had to relearn all my MU's. But bane has to really play a fighting game properly in the MU, slow down, think, make reads, theres still alot of hope that ares wins the MU though. But I think Zat is gonna be a backbreaker for him, everything ares does just 200% better.

I can respect this. Are you going to UFGT? It would be cool to see a FT 10 between you and Max.
