why not go for something that will land you a full combo?

like if you think they'll backdash do MB staff slam, that way the risk/reward for the read is evenish

if you think they jump you can do a standing 1 I figure then follow it up
Oh I do, but the problem is that lots of characters can backdash and block. If your character's backdash sucks you might have to hold that though. Stand 1 is easy to jump out of at most ranges. Flying grayson to chase it or b1 is usually the way to go.

My god... My mind is blown by this superman talk. "What made his f 23 so good anyways..." Crickets. " superman is top 3 bc of his zoning" lol he is out zoning by half the cast. "Killer frost can punish air lasers at midscreen and any good superman will just back dash away" well ummm KF can then just dash into range. "Superman can zone KF all day" unmmmmmm how when a good KF stay at a range that punish everything.

Man. Not a good argument being made for supes

Most people have figured out that just holding back is a great deterrent to staff wing. This forces him to sweep in staff or check you with the ground pound. Both of those options get you jumped on and combo'd.

The Nightwing meta is interesting and really fun when opponents need to respect it.

It's just frustrating against a good portion of the cast that A)gives no fucks about his zoning and B) run away.

GL is a great example of this. Full screen, Escrima sparks are good, but up close you want to be in staff so you can lock him down. The threat of the forward advancing b13 is something escrima cannot handle very well. (Blocked dings = full lift combo or b13 on your way down and b13 eats b2 as well as d12)

How does Nightwing outzone Cyborg and Sinestro again? I don't see Nightwing being a turtle character against those guys.

I put Nightwing in my bottom 5 anyway to be safe. Chill y'all.
He isn't bottom 5.

People don't know what NW does because they either don't play a NW who knows what's up, or don't play a character who gives a shit about what he can do. Unfortunately most people fall into one or both of those categories.

I just want to express how I feel about two match-ups. I don't particularly feel that Catwoman blows up Superman, but I feel that its at least even. This is mainly due to her unbreakable damage, low hitbox, and well spaced J2's.

I just played Satsui's Superman at a tournament this weekend in GF and as close as it was, I won. I have beaten every Superman in SoCal just as much as they have beaten me.

As far as Aquaman goes. I mainly have theories on the match-up, I don't consider myself an expert in the match because I honestly need to play it out more. I'll try and get some more games against Theo and see if I can show the world something.

Also, I started practicing again. I'm going for the win at WNF on Wednesday. :)

I'm really surprised that the NW community is blowing up because of Theo's remarks on the character and not the Grundy community. Two socal peeps have said he's top 5 material. Are they agreeing with that?

The Grundy community

Consisting of Myself, Tyrant, Jeffries, Mikemetroid and LOTF

We all hold Tyrant's dats. SoCal plays Tyrant.

By the Transitive property, everyone should hold their dats on Grundy.

Truth, justice and the American way.
I put Nightwing in my bottom 5 anyway to be safe. Chill y'all.

Saying Nightwing can outzone Cyborg and then saying he's bottom 5 makes about as much sense as Tom Brady calling us arrogant fucks and then saying he's got no problem with us.

I play against K7L33THA regularly. So I'm glad he was there to shut this "Nightwing can outzone Cyborg" shit down. At best - Nightwing can interupt and score a knockdown. I play SuddenBlackout and K7 all the time. I have studied this MU extensively and on days when we have a good connection - we go even. So I feel comfortable when I say the only ZONING I'm doing in this MU is pinning him in the corner with MB wingdings to prevent him from ziplining the fuck out whenever he wants. Because if he recognizes that I will respect his powerfist wakeup - he's getting out of the corner and I've just lost the match.

WoundCowboy will attest to the fact that both he and I initially believed Nightwing DID outzone Sinestro. It didn't take long for both of us to recognize how much of a lie that turned out to be. Nightwing can interupt Sinestro's zoning, but that's as far as it goes.

Trying to lame out Superman will end faster than a knife fight in a phonebooth. Superman just needs to trait up and with one read he's done more damage than Nightwing has done in 3 with less risk/reward.

Sajam has figured out the GL MU by discovering that NW only wins that MU from absolute full screen. There is nowhere else on the screen that Nightwing's options are favored in the risk/reward. Steve plays this MU incredibly lame - what makes you think he hasn't tried the same with every other MU? Saying that Nightwing players haven't explored the lame aspect of the character is a slap in the face to Steve. Also, unless you've played the CORN Nightwing players - you haven't fucking SEEN rushdown Nightwing yet.

GGA Slips There simply is no mixup after MB Staff spin at midscreen. WoundCowboy has been asking me to show him what you're talking about and I can't, because it doesn't exist. It's not real. Here's what happens after a MB staff spin - I have to make the read as to whether or not you will backdash the follow up, in which case - I am doing jump forward 1 to catch you, or I'm doing stand 1 MB ground blast to buy myself a dash in. Block low against staff until you either see 1. Nightwing leave the ground 2. The swooping 22frame overhead which - contrary to your comments - looks nothing like ground blast.

And if it so happens you eat a quick stand 12 - you can tech roll. From now you're out of pressure and if you just chill for a second - you'll probably be able to d2 the inevitable flying grayson from the shitty NW players. Or against a good NW player - they'll switch back to escrima - recognizing that they gave up pressure for a 4% overhead and the risk/reward of a flying grayson is fucking retarded against anyone who knows how to deal with it.

People getting blown up by Staff stance are either unfamiliar to it's properties or are being entirely too impatient. After bit lost to Hruza in tournament he took that shit to the lab. GGA 16 Bit hasn't lost to Hruza Da Bruza in tournament ONCE since the first time he lost to Hruza. Bit studied the MU, he learned how to cope with the one trick pony bullshit - and now Hruza is being forced to level up. I fucking love seeing Hruza do well - I know that in your scene, Hruza can quickly become one of the best Nightwing players in the country. But you're all doing him a disservice when you let him get away with fucking murder. I can't count how many times people let him d1 after a whiffed flying grayson.

I'm not the best representative of my character. I don't talk MU numbers. I don't post new tech. I get bodied online all the fucking time. But I know when someone is talking out of ignorance with regards to my character and there's a whole lot of that going on this week.

Happy Veterans Day by the way. 'Merica
