Yes I remember that process. I was in such anticipation for that video to be released, and on top of that, the follow up video I did with ded_ MKII SKOM took ANOTHER year to finish.Making combo videos is not easy... As I'm sure that others can tell you, I have spent days on simply recording ONE combo.
With all that I had going on at the time, my MKII combo video took nearly a year to finish.
I know all about doing combos and setups by yourself lol ... my entire MKII corner jab infinite video was done on keyboard controlling both players! It was like playing the piano. Good thing that video, and the Shang Morphback Infinite video, only took one day to create.@Konqrr's right, it can be hard as hell. On top of that, some combos usually work only once, you keep trying and you never get it right again. Of course I'm talking about in the beggining.
The best part is when you're recording just everything, you get the combo you want and then you start to freestyle. That's when the real nasty and sick combos are created.
Also, my videos were done on console, through vhs recording, so when I wanted to do a combo that required the opp to jump or something like that, I had to do it myself, even Raiden's reverse-lightning-uppercut-interruption setup. For jumping, my favorite method was to hold the up arrow down on the other controler, with my big toe JAJAJAJAAJAJAJAJAJ
Please yes!btw, i have more reduxes that i can upload for download if people are interested, Mike also reduxed Shattered
I would like to add to this, in that age I didnt even had an own pc, and the ones near me werent as good even to emulate snes haha I had to record EVERYTHING on a small MP4 vdeo recorder (320x240) and then go into a friends house and edit in Ulead 9 haha good times, but also cluncky.@Konqrr's right, it can be hard as hell. I didnt want to say "remake" just the original, its not on youtube? or i didnt foundI think there are other revised versions of the videos but I don't have links to all of them.
Agreed... this is why I haven't redone my MKII video because of all of the specifically placed music timings to hits in combos and such. It was such a work of art back then that I don't think I can faithfully reproduce now. I have all of the clips thanks to ded though, so it may happen eventually.Definitely put up the reduxes ded_. My only complaint about them, as ded_ knows from consulting with me on them, is that it's very hard to capture all the timings in the music, especially the more subtle ones that set pace. Not a single video we ever did was just combos with music slapped over it, it all had a story to it. Some of the stuff is so off the beats because the comes aren't all done at the exact same speed, that and some transitions I used are not available in newer versions of editing software. All that stuff counts.
If there's a way to convert the frame rate of old projects in later versions of video editors you could rename all the files to what they were originally, let them load up and slide them around to adjust their placement. 90% of them line up perfectly if you have enough slack before and after, and you can compensate with long transitions or speed adjustments. It's just a lot of work. Even a 30fps timecode would be an upgrade using actual 53fps. They would look fantastic by comparison taking advantage of HD quality on youtube.Agreed... this is why I haven't redone my MKII video because of all of the specifically placed music timings to hits in combos and such. LOL!! I use the EXACT same method to control P2!For me on stick, I used an interesting method on MAME where I'd bind all of Player 2s inputs to the block button for Player 1 using the same stick. This way, Player 2 could be controlled completely independently of P1 on the screen just but holding the block button on one stick. So you could run, jump, attack, etc, and P1 stands in place, free to anti air and what not. For example, P1 Up = W, P1 Block = End, P2 Up = W+End
This. I told Check that I would love a combo compendium of his top 5 combos for each 3d MK, for 2d MK that could be sick too.you should do a new video compliation putting those who are consider best combos from previous videos (like a "greatest hits") with new song to celebrate the tenth anniversary
