LOL, we played at Reno's for like 2 hours straight and I don't think he said a single word.

Final notes: On the FGC side it is so rampant and glorified its seen on the surface. Like when I go search for tournament footage for seemingly any other game, its normal. Decent sportsmanship every now and then a little disdainful content but yeah Zyphox you're right it does happen in EVERY community to an extent. However, in the FGC I don't have to go looking for it. ITS EVERYWHERE. With the FPS and MOBA communities, you have to at least SEARCH for the drama. It doesn't just pop up. Also I'm not just talking about "top players" or "tournament players" here. I mean as a WHOLE. From people who just go into games and when they lose you get a message saying
Now I know the defense here is "IT HAPPENS IN FPS and MOBAs" but be honest. In your online experience, where does it happen MORE? Where does it seem glorified? Most other games last so much longer and the salt can build so much. Fighting matches take less than 5 minutes a pop. Yet so much salt. So fast. THen they get mad at online, then turn around to say "ONLINE DOESN'T MATTER"

You're wrong. You can shit on whoever's opinion you want, for whatever reason. If we couldn't, why does this thread even exist?
We aren't talking about expressing opinions in a contructive manner, we are talking about being a troll and being destructive. Just becuse you are able to do something, doesn't give you the right to do it, or make you justified in doing it; they are mutually exclusive things. Fundamentally peoples rights extend as far as not imposing on someone elses rights. Just as you or I could verbaly abuse someone else all day everyday if we wanted too, the abusee has the right not to be abused, so if you are imposing your will in this situation...you are in the wrong.

I could break a window, at it would be my "right" to do it, that doesn't make it the correct thing to do. If I impose my right to throw a rock through YOUR window, you have the right to hold me accountable and I would have to face the consequences.

When its about the games, its about the games. If we're out and about I talk but I never have a reason to get loud when ya'll are showing so much hospitality. And since I play bane, who am I sharing tech with? So by proxy don't talk much just enjoy the experience.

That's still the only Bane experience I have. You're the ONLY Bane player I've ever played! lol

Why would someone bother becoming part of the FGC?
Because they have a passion for fighting games. Plain and simple.

It's not like the entire golf community gets butt hurt when some randoms from the basketball community say golf is trash. Why should it matter what a few select people have to say!?! These generalization of the FGC have been so selective to certain individuals lately.

I know I've said this before, but imagine if at every football event absolutely every person's views, actions, and comments in the audience represented how the football community is viewed. There are bad people everywhere, in every large communion of people. Generalizing the whole FGC for their actions is exactly the same thing the select few are doing; making broad assumptions then talking bad about a group.

What is going on guys, Ya Boi Zyphox here.

i agree, also though have you played black ops 2 on the xbox or halo 3 back in the day? it happens online too in these communities, alot. i have received more death threats, racist, and homophobic messages on halo 3 back in the day than in the last 3 years playing COD and MK9/injustice combined. also to me IMO its not glorified in any community, in the FGC pop offs to an extent are glorified becomes its hype. but if it goes to far there is backlash and imo is not supported at all. same with COD and Halo 3, mid match it was common to hear people yelling and tea bagging IN tournament in halo 3, thats why MLG has that rule where if it gets excessive they give you one warning followed by a DQ, at MLG Columbus 09 MID match i was called a beaner [ban incoming] for out Br'ing some honkey chump and the REF gave him a warning. we eliminated his team round 5 of the losers bracket in the open bracket play and he didn't even shake my hand, i am Dominican, the rest of my team were white boys. so far in the FGC it has never gone there where i have been at least. have you heard MLG commentary for COD? halo 3? they also "glorify" pop offs in the commentary, they would be like "ohhhh some words and tea bagging after that kill from yada yada" and the crowd laughs. my point is it happens everywhere, for the most part in a lot of gaming communities, its unfair to just point a finger at the FGC and differentiate between gamers. if you want footage i can find some FPS pop offs, kids breaking their controllers after losing, fights and a lot of salt.

With how some individuals within the FGC act, I'm starting to question that particular love.

That really isn't the same thing. What dude is talking about in the vid would be more like if the Golf community was split into smaller factions of players who only play on certain courses.

What if part of the golf community only golfed on course A, and another part only golfed at course B, and the players from course B treated players from course A like crap (and vice versa).

In this exmaple it is easy to see how someone not of the golf community at all can see how disfunctional the people in the golf community are as they are just tear each other down just cause they can. At the end of the day, of course all people aren't going to agree, and they don't have too; that isn't what this is really about though.

The FGC less of a singular community, and more of a collection of communities who seemingly HATE each other, and come together every so often just to spread more disfunction with those that, at it's core, really just love the same things as each other.

It's simple.. We normalize the superman.
We all have assholes too, but that doesn't mean we should shove them in people's faces any chance we get. Too many people treat their opinions like something they can just vomit out whenever they want. These people suffer from lack of restraint or self-control, or maybe they just don't care about others. If I'm watching a movie I don't care for, I don't tell everyone in the theater "God DAMN this movie is shit!!". I could if I wanted to, and I have every right to, but I wouldn't because it would ruin others' experience. If I did share my opinion, it would be with those who care to hear it.

I just like being cool to other people. Why do so many people think they matter enough to shit on someone's day?
(this is in reference to dickish use of opinions, not constructive ones)

It's amazing that two people can punch each others faces in for up to 25 minutes in MMA and still show respect afterwards and hug each and pat each other on the back. They shit talk each other for months on end even.

YET, two people playing a video game get so worked up over winning or losing and get salty, hate filled, and show no sportsmanship afterwards. Shows the mentality of SOME of the FGC, not all.

Maybe it's the class of people that video games attract? Not saying it is ALL of the FGC or any other video game community, but a good percentage.

I don't know. I'm gonna go home and fly my pigeons.

FPS elitism chart:

1) quake/ut/warsow -- "all other games are inferior both in tactical and execution requirements. quake3 is the most balanced game of all time"
2) tribes -- "tribes is harder than quake"
2) counterstrike -- "all other tactical shooooooters are watered down versions of cs"
3) TF2 -- "tf2 is a valid competitive platform but valve just wants to sell hats"
4) all other PC shooters -- "at least we dont play console"
5) console shooters -- "FPS as a genre sure has come a long way since CoD4 started it all back in 2008"

The thing with FPS console only players is they have no idea how wide FPS games branch out

The man is absolutely right. This is what I refer to as "video game racism" or VGR. People get all bent out of shape and demonstrate a superioirty complex because other people don't play the same games or types of games as they do. It's very similar to the never-ending video game console wars. Who the fuck cares what other companies and consoles that you don't support are doing? If you enjoy a specific game, type of game, or console, play it and STFU.

Off topic: I'm being general and saying it like it is. The other great thing about an opinion? You don't have to agree with it or even humor it with a response. The only time it would get to me is if I'm friends with the party in question. And I was simply saying that people HAVE the right to state their opinions, regardless of how dickish they may be. I wasn't condoning physical violence or anything like that.

Wait, what? You can shit on other's opinions all you want for whatever reason, but it doesn't justify you shoving it in their face. It's like you say you love PS, and I'm like no FUCK YOU, YOU'RE STUPID XBOX IS BETTER. That's what this is about, people will always not like the same stuff as you, but you don't have to be a dick about it and shove it into other's faces.

It's called respect and being an adult. I think basketball is a boring sport, but I'm not going to go up to Michael Jordan and tell him he played a worthless sport that he couldn't pay me to watch.
