Should kenshi really be number 2? Kenshi absolutely destroys some low tiers for sure, but he does not dominate any of the top 10 except kitana. Sonya too suffers from bad matchups against the KKK triad and that hurts her viability.

I am one of mind to think that cyrax, who does no worse than 4-6 against the zoning traid (possibly beating kenshi) and who goes even or better against the other top 10, should be #2.

Alright, since our community loves lists, MK9 has been out for over two years, and we have never been able to settle on the top 10 characters, I figure that now is the time to decide. Here is my attempt at placing the top 10 characters in the game:

The Kenshi question depends on how you create your matchup chart. If its based on the scale of adding up winning matchups and taking the total...of course Kenshi is highly rated. Look at how many 8-2s and potential 9-1s he has. It's outlandish. And when you are determining where a character falls in the game, you can't just discuss the top characters. For an overall judgement on a character, the low tier matchups matter too. And he blasts characters like Jade, Kano, and Sub zero so hard...that yes, it matters.

We'll never know because we are letting mk9 die . But freddy is not 5 with that 8-2 mu imo. Skarlet is not top 10 either imo because most players dont have exp vs her. But once figured out she is like jax solid high mid like around 11-13. Raiden is near the bottom imo too unsafe. Teleport is not that good.ex and normal tele can be punished. Sektor is way better than raiden imo.

i'm not the only one who thinks Skarlet is not top 10.

Its not yours or their fault, i understand that, and i understand why.


I honestly just do not care anymore, if a player is extremely good with her, she can be top 3 which is epic.


This was to be a more content post, though i cut a lot of details, i didn't erase them and put them out in spoiler because it doesn't matter anymore:

This character is very hard to master, and you will hardly see someone playing perfectly well with it besides Scar, me and FLY.

In all honestly only one person in U.S has a major control over Skarlet which is Scar, he is the most successful Skarlet player in the whole U.S, but he as 2 problems, damage output, and style exchanging, but he does excel very well in Rushdown and hit confirm, FLY is also very good, he has more damage output, he is defeated also due Clutch pressure.

I can do all playstyles, including his, and my damage output are generally bigger when i comes down to punish real hard in any given situation of the game, there is only one problem, i do not compete in U.S.

I would love to compete in U.S to see how do i differ from him, for better or worse, only then i would have a clear statement on where do skarlet truly places. As she is right know, i believe she is the most inconsistent character to place, because she moves up in the tier list and down out of the tier list according to how she plays, this is why its hard to determine, over the years Skarlet was placed 32, then 15, then 7, then 6 then 5, then 9 now 10 by some and also just outside of 10. And her hardest MU is Cyrax and Kabal.


Xarakamaka is also a Skarlet player from U.K, he doesn't compete in U.S.
After EVO2012 it becomed even hard to consider top players from other scenes outside the U.S.

Whoever, i'm staying out of this for serveral reasons, not competing in U.S is one of them, and things can turn to be different in data analyses and such, though i would feel myself at home fighting guys at their level, i think i would want to fight all day.

2. Of course i want Skarlet to become stronger (which i already believe she is) so staying out of this is just another reason for NRS to buff the char in MK10 and become even more powerful.

Tier lists are so subjective. Take the below example:

Character A: Has no bad matchups. Most of his matchups are 5-5, has some 6-4.
Character B: Has only 1 bad matchup 6-4 against Character A, and many 8-2 and 7-3.

So who is better?

Anyone remeber that old tier list by Tom Brady that had all matchups? Raiden was first back then. We need a tier list of that type instead of simple listing. Can anyone make one for 2013?

Denzell yes Raiden's teleport is unsafe but imagine it being safe that would be dumb. If you are a Raiden player and you are getting punished for teleports then you are doing it wrong. You are meant to use it on reaction to things and that will then make the player hesitant to get any offense going and it allows Raiden himself to get his own offense started.

Also Raiden is better than Sektor. Sektor's pretty much my co-main. He's good but he has some holes and he loses to Kabal, Kenshi, Sonya, Freddy, Smoke and Cage in the top 10 while not really dominating many MU's except low tiers like Noob and Sheeva.

Cobra to not have Freddy in the top 10 is asinine. Best full screen zoner in the game with full screen frame traps and excellent recovery on his projectiles. He has a strong oki game especially in the corner because of sweet dreams set-ups which grant +20 frame advantage on block or so. Not to mention his 50/50 is SAFE with meter and he can effectively vortex you to death because EX ground spikes keep you standing. Nightmare stance has so many uses. Good for projectile evasion, good for whiff punishing in the neutral game and also has nice mix-ups coming out of it.

The only weaknesses this character has are fairly poor pokes especially in terms of speed, and his high hit-box. That's it.

isnt this how the japanese base all of their street fighter tier lists?

we will also never be able to do this sort of tier list, as we can still never agree on most match up numbers

a lot of people here think that if you lose a mu, and it does not seem easy it is automatically a 7-3 or 8-2. When most bad match ups are really just 6-4.

WoundCowboy the premise of your thread "deciding a final top 10 tier list for mk9" doesn't make sense because you're bringing it to the community as if the community can decide or agree on anything.

Find a comprehensive list of tournament players who know a damn about the highest level play, confirm with them, then present the tier list as "This is the top 10 tier list as far as all of the top players in the game are concerned" (then of course list the players).

This thread is going to go on for another 200 pages and deliver nothing. Have fun.

For me I really wanted his taunt 2 able to do it in combos
