Xanadu Thursday casuals (Arbutus, Maryland just outside of Baltimore)

Hey guys I know there's a MD/VA thread going on but I wanted to make this because we are trying to make this a weekly thing and want to focus on this one location for now.

Xanadu games is located here:

3921 Vero Rd, Arbutus, MD 21227

I've been talking to KevoDaMan the past week or two to get this started and tonight we met up at Xanadu along with a couple other people and played some casuals. In total I think we had about 9-10 people there for MKX. Kevo, Eazail and myself have played in MK9 tournies and we want to make the MD scene as strong as possible.


The plan for now is to meet up every Thursday sometime after 5pm (no specific hours yet). The store has a venue fee of $5. It's a nice place and they have monitors, but people need to bring their own system. I can bring my PS4 everytime but ideally we would want at least 1-2 more. The goal would be to have a lot of people playing and leveling up and if we get enough people interested maybe even do some biweekly tournies or something like that.

Is this still going on? I live on eastern shore so it not far from me and there nothing over here that I know of

Hey do you all still meet up and play some casuals or tournaments? I'd really like to get involved with a scene in MD if possible.

Please do lol I need a scene close to me. I live on Eastern shore and there nothing here. And traveling 3 hours to VA is hard to do sometimes but a trip across the bridge is nothing

If they aren't doing mkx I think we could get enough ppl to come out to make it a regular event. I'm definitely willing to make the drive over there so just let me know what you find out

Would definitely go for MKX action. I generally work till five and its an hour away from where I live, so I'd be limited to whatever starts after 6pm if its mid-week.

I got a hold of the venue via Facebook messenger. There wasn't a mention of an MKX scene happening already, but they're willing to host us, or any fighting game. This is a good place to start.

The deal is we bring our own set ups. If enough people attend (number pending), they'll even hold tournaments for us. So... Who's coming this Thursday??

Great news!! Im on call this Thursday so I can't make it but the following week I can definitely make it

I'm going to bring a PS4 w/ an ASUS monitor, BYOC. Feel free to bring whatever console or set up you'd like though. Stream will come in time. Planning to start setting up at 5, begin play at 5:30?

This is kind of inaugural so if you show up and there are some minor hiccups, please be patient. We'll grow out of it.

Cool I'm gonna come. Once SFV comes out, It would be great to get a scene at Xandu for that as well.

Sounds good I won't be able to make 530 when I come because it a 2 hour drive and I probably won't be able to leave until 530. How late do think they stay open?

I'm definitely pumped about this tho I'm gonna order my converter so I don't have to use ps4 controller.

What are good monitors I've been thinking about buying one?

I can bring a PS4... As for lagless monitor, I don't have one :/

Do have a regular ol' monitor though.

I'm good for the following Thursday as well.

This Thursday is a no go for me though, next Thursday I'm good to go though.
