Back in the MK9 days, I bought myself a used madcatz stick that was modded with the MK "X" layout. I was quite pleased with this purchase though eventually I did feel a need to order new buttons to be replaced. If the stick doesn't work the way you may like (being used and all) then ordering new buttons and a stick isn't very expensive.
Based on my own experience, I'd say its worth a shot.
