My friend is arguing this from worst to least worst, stryker nightwolf sheeva kano.

He says stryker has no good punishment, and if you block he can't do anything but grab at midscreen, essentially he has awful tools, no mixups, and the only way you lose to him is if you are too active and you kill yourself, so he is the worst.

he says nightwolf, is a turtle that can't deal with zoners at all, and similary he can't open you up, so he says he is worst than sheeva, because sheeva atleast has some dirt up close and a fireball and a few gimmicks.

and he thinks kano is the best because if you guess right a lot you can do well and deal with zoning, and unlike stryker he can punish things (b112, and upball)

i was arguing nightwolf is better than sheeva (because he can't atleast punish things and has a counter-poking normal), and perhaps not as good as kano, but i agree stryker might be the worst.

MK9 Stryker is the worst fighting game character ever. DUDE SUCKS.

Which is too bad cause Stryker is so cool. :(

yeah like a mid right?
oh he must have spaced out when he was thinking about two projectiles including a low which can be held down as a clone for meter, a 6 frame launcher that encompasses his entire hitbox, a 7 frame jab and a 4 hit pressure string, a grounded fast and aerial teleport with 4 options 2 leading to a full combo and one as a grab, plus the tp can be armored for meter, a fast spacing covering divekick, a ground roll which goes under projectiles, an overhead, a low, a string that does extra chip which can be canceled , two strings that end in overheads for a mixup, and a move that was intended to hop over low pokes.

I voted Sheeva. She was my main squeeze, but i honestly dont think she had a single matchup where the opponent had to respect much of what she does. She was too slow to have such little damage on her BnB's. And if i remember, she couldnt even punish Reptiles elbow-dash outside of a throw or D4  Her normals were just man. Big as hell and very little reach (Well F4 was nice, just way too risky). Her specials were almost suicide to use outside of canceling a normal into it and/or armor because of lackluster speed, recovery, and being so negative on block. This is just off the top of my head. There were many more flaws with her but ahhhhhh just why :/ But regardless she was the only character i even remotely did well with ironically.

a move that was intended to hop over low pokes? if you mean f4 then gtfo, good luck throwing out all these f4's against a serious opponent. You said he had everything, but he doesn't have a mid, that a pretty big fucking thing to not have. I agree though, he is even more complete than kabal , not having a mid is what prevents him from being broken. That is kung lao's design, to have everything except for a mid, it is up to the player to get around not having a mid using all the other tools KL has, that is what makes kung lao interesting.

It's a damn shame too, as Sheeva had an awful lot of potential, but was simply lacking in far too many fundamental areas to ever be viable.

Stuff like mixing up 212f1 bf3 with 212 db3 was too good... if you could find yourself in a position to land the first hit, which was 12 frames and lacking range-wise. f4 was a great normal... but pretty much the only reliable normal she had. Apart from armoured bf3, she had zero answers against pressure, and didn't fare much better against most zoners either.

Also I'm fairly sure that Sheeva has more 2-8 and 3-7 matchups than anyone else in the cast, so there's that...

Really likes to throw things at you.
It is Stryker hands down. He has no options. Also why is Jade not on this list to me she is worse than Nightwolf? Maybe it is because I mained Kenshi and Cage, but damn that bitch had no options at all either.

How in the holy fuck are you actually trying to downplay Kung Lao... he was nerfed like 6 times and still the number 6 character in the game. Giving him a mid would be as stupid as giving Smoke a low.

...and still not a top 5 character. Goes to show you the importance of a true mid + great counter-poking tool. Both of which KL lacks. He's awesome, and he's pretty well rounded, but he wouldn't be on the top of my list when I talk about MK9 bullshit.

How is he downplaying? He just talked about what Kung Lao lacks and still called him more complete than Kabal. He also didn't say Kung Lao should be given a mid. He just pointed out that he lacks one. Talking about a character's weaknesses does not mean you're suggesting the character shouldn't have those weaknesses. Just curious, do you make the same post when people talk about Aquaman's poor wake-ups in Injustice? Does that mean they're implying Aquaman SHOULD have good wakeups?
