Why are there no more hype online tournaments!?

Why the hell don't we take advantage of the netcode that is BETTER than MK9's and hold some hype online tournaments. Pros, Mid-tiers, everybody.

During Mk9's peak period there were tournaments going on every week online. Upsets were had, stream monsters were there, and hype was EVERYWHERE.

One of my favorite moments of MK9 happened during this time, when I go to losers finals of one of these (losing to REO twice in tournament) and having a godlike semis match with SatsuiYesHadou

The match came down to a pixel and I won with a standing 4 over mileenas d4.

AK Pig Of The Hut was there, WoundCowboy was there, R.E.O. was there, and just an absolute insane amount of talent.

Why don't we hold these for injustice? Is there no passion anymore? Can it be done!?

I think it should be done and it should be a free for all. Let the bodies hit the floor kind of thing. Fuck prizes, lets do it for pride.

Mortal Monday requires a huge effort and a fantastic team. The fact that we did what we did on a voluntary basis and had that much content still astounds me. It was a monumental achievement. Numerous attempts have been made to restart it, but time commitments and such make it hard. I do not want to release something that would tarnish what Mortal Monday was...I want to release something better someday.

I tried setting up a online tourney for FR 2013 where the pot would go to the winner plus a 50 dollar bonus and couldn't even get 10 signups. So I stopped trying to do them after that.

I agree. Ive been wishing for an online tournament mode for years now. Seems painfully obvious to do. Too bad they cant patch it in.
