Clearly in this MK, there is actually 3 types of fighting Styles that one character was build to fight around with, these styles are respectivly:
- Projectile (Zoning) - Characters who gain the edge by fighting so far away from his opponents using projectiles, regularly some of these character has poor rushdown options or simply doesn't have good armor or not armor at all, their strings tends to be too slow
Note: Zoning ising simply throwing projectiles, but its seems that is what the community defines at this game
- Rushdown - Characters who gain the edge by fighting up close, regulary some of these characters have faster startup strings, that are neutral on block, and come with some armor on their moves to be able to get in, also their zoning is not always that good.
- Turtle - Characters who can't do zoning and rushdown effectively either, they may have an ok zoning and an ok rushdown but if they get careless for a short while these character its highly punishable on 1st mistakes, their best move has armor but still can be highly punishable on block.
These characters main strategy is fighting defensively and place on what the community regularly calls it footsies, to go around the opponent strategies and deal with it
- misc - Character that can mix between 2 of this types and do it very well, but not so effectively like some character or are originally build based on one of these fighting types.
I don't play the entire rooster, but it would be fun to know how the entire rooster of MK9 is build based, and in which types of fighting styles does they fit.
