I'm an mk2 guy and I've played umk3 back in the 'cades but was never really good at it. I'm decent but I couldn't adjust to the changes in timing/physics in umk3 (ie. regular moves like rhk or combos like kitana's fan lift combo). The change in the theme's direction didn't really help either. The transition from mythical martial arts into a post apocalyptic sci-fi setting just took away from what made mk1 and 2 special. Umk3 is still a lot of fun - I play it all the time and sometimes more often than mk2 but I like the simplicity of mk2 and even in it's simplicity I find there still a lot of strategy involved that players tend to overlook.ScheissNussen said:MK2 is fun as long as you play the right people.
When you play against players that do nothing but run from you, you are no longer playing a fighting game.
All fighting game developers should understand this by now.
It is also the reason why UMK3 is loved by so many. Try naming another fighter that is as aggressive as UMK3.
I also don't understand how a lot of the MK2 players on this site haven't at least tried to get into it.
Same reason for me.MaDWaK said:when It comes to fighting games my style is the more faster paced ones, hence why I play umk3 the most.
I totally agree. I totally thought the "robots" were fucking retarded at first, and the fat's are pathetic. But the gameplay is way too good in UMK3.ScheissNussen said:I remember the very first time I played mk3 I was like "FUCK YEAH KANO!" and I picked him and someone picked sektor and just spammed the homing missile.... lol
(seriously fuckin trying playing against a spamming sektor without knowing how to use the run button)
I almost never started playing it after that, I really thought missile shooting robots would never be a part of MK at all, and the art was terrible and just completely unpolished.
Decapitations that just look like someone literally did a cut and paste of a gif and moved it to the floor. The sounds also aren't anywhere near as good as MK2.
And I agree with that, just because there is more content in a game, doesn't necessarily make it a better game.
3s... when your not playing a chun li..ScheissNussen said:MK2 is fun as long as you play the right people.
