What's buffering?

I've heard this word tossed around a couple times, just curious what it is.
Buffering refers to inputting the motions or commands for moves either before you actually need them(as in during a combo where your inputting moves ahead of the on screen animations) or by bufferering directionals while in block. For instance if your getting rushed down and you only have a few frames to counter before the cycle starts again you can "buffer" the motions while in block and then quickly release block and hit the corrisponding attack button to get a special move.
Its basically setting up moves before you are actually going to use them.
There are other examples and Im sure someone could explain it better, but thats the jist.

Like blk d l let go of block hit fk and it will do the special for dlfk?
It should yes. Make certain you have fully released the block button before hitting the command button or you could get an EX move. The negative edging in this game is a little crazy.

Dark Rob covered it pretty much, imputing commands prior to a finished combo so that the move will come out ahead of time smoothly. You can also buffer commands for certain wake up moves as soon as you hit the ground, such as say Cage's flip kick on wake up for example.
