What have I missed?

I guess this is like a comeback thread? I barely posted, certainly didn't contribute anything of value, and was a shit player, but I was around for a while. Got to know a couple of you and played some online casuals with those guys semi-regularly. Maybe I even won a few matches.

Anyways, I've barely touched fighting games for the better part of a year, but the combined hype of USF4 and tomorrow's MKX reveal (whatever it may be) have got me pretty excited and ready to jump back in, especially when it comes to Netherrealm games.

So I'm wondering if anybody can suggest any recommended reading to help me catch up on the current meta or any big tech discoveries. Or any consolidated patch note threads for injustice around? (last time I played was shortly after Zod came out). I'm guessing there haven't been any balance patches for MK9 in the last, say, year and a half, but I could probably use a few quick primers for that game anyways.

I'm sorry to say that I am of no help with the threads you seek: I don't follow this stuff all too closely, so you'd be better off asking someone else. However, I will try my best to summarize based on my memory:
– D2s are now better for anti-airing (though they are still horrible for some characters).
– Interactables now cost two bars to be meter burned.
– The one hit of armor on MB B3s and MB F3s reduces the amount of damage taken by 50%; when no damage is absorbed by the armor, the attack does 50% more damage.
– Pushblock traps now do no damage. (Affecting characters like Cyborg, Sinestro, and Zod.)
– Superman's F2 has been nerfed.
– Black Adam got nerfed.
– Essentially, the game can be more fun, now that isn't dominated by boring characters.

Thanks! Found some patch notes and have been browsing around a bit. Real bummed to see that Ollie is still booty buttcheeks, but oh well.
