Cyborg's Savior
Lately I have been thinking about what can determine a Bad Match in injustice and what can make a character good or not. For Example Cyborg Vs. Aquaman some people have on there match up chart that Aquaman DESTROYS Cyborg so I wanted to grind the match not just to get better as a player but to see what makes the MU so bad for Cyborg. People say because AM has moves like from the deep and watershield but if the match is played correctly by the Cyborg player the match is real simple...

But I wanna hear peoples thought about some of there bad matches and I want them to explain to me why they are bad for them so I can kinda pick there brains about their bad match and how they feel about them it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!:D:D:D

Anything can swing a matchup in a character's favor, or against them. Oftentimes it's just tools that counter the others well, sometimes completely shutting down any use of their best options. Other times it can just be because the risks are great and the return just isn't enough to compensate...or extremely lopsided (See Scorpion vs Cyrax in MK9). It can even just be that the character does certain things better in general.

I agree @Cal-EL it would have to be all of them because you can't just have one to be a bad match up. Mk9 Cyrax for example has the highest damage output then all the characters. But if you say damage is what makes a bad match up then Cyrax is number one in the tier list. But there are characters ( almost all ) that can handle Cyrax pretty we'll just got to play smart. So I say all my opinion on it.

Good question @NorCal-Cyborg

What can determine a bad matchup? That's really, really deep fighting game philosophy you want to get into there.

WHO can determine a bad matchup? Fred Marvel, MidTierHarley, Ra Helios, Peckapowa, MuffinMuggers and his 7,854 hideys.

The latter is the easier path you can take to understanding your bad matchups.
This is a great post lol.

Ive been wanting to hear from great players about there bad matches and what they do about them online or during a tournament, since I only wanna hear from great players or players that have been there before, I thought it would be a great way to get better at injustice and fighting games in general :D

How can doing greater damage make a bad match up? is if Cyrax Vs said character or is it vice versa?

Hmm okay let me it put it to you this way top tier with top tier Kung Lao vs Cyrax Kung Lao got a 80% health lead but has no meter Cyrax even tho it seems it's in Kung Lao favor has full meter he hit one combo Kung Lao can't break an eats 100% Cyrax goes into the next round with meter advantage while Kung Lao almost has breaker I can see how damage output can make a bad match up do you agree

Given how you look at it,Its in Cyrax favor in that one, which isnt bad if you main him. But I see your point now...

I think it's when a character has certain tools that shut down the best options of another character and the character that is being limited by said tools doesn't have other tools to make up for it. . For instance bat man vs aquaman, AM's D2 and trait directly counter some of batmans best tools (J2, multi hitting combo starting strings, ext). Sure a batman player can beat a AM player, but he has to work significantly harder then normal and change the way he plays his game. But a matchup like AM vs MMH, ya FTD can stuff OH Tele, but MMH also has other tools that allow him to fight on even terms.

70% of the roster in NRS fighting games have bad matchups while 30% of the roster have great/unfairly advantaged matchups.

The ability to make a character fight outside of their given archatype is the easiest way to put it.

Take Sub Zero for example. He wants yo control space, turtle and keep zoning in check with projectile trades. When he cannot do this and is forced outside of his comfort zone it becomes a bad MU.
