The "Thank You Vandy" 2016 Thread

So without a doubt, KiT was one of the best majors (some say, the absolute best) we've seen for MKX to date. Not only that, but it was also one of the only chances in a year's worth of time, to see everyone come back together and compete in Injustice.

It's been awesome to watch KiT grow year by year, and given all the praise that's been given to the players so far, I thought it'd be nice to take some time out and thank the man behind it all.

As far as TO's go, @Vandy isn't the loudest guy; isn't the flashiest; and doesn't call tons of attention to himself. But he consistently stays close to the community, really cares about putting on the best possible showcase for everyone, and handles issues with grace.

So thank you Vandy:
-Thanks for showing the ol' NRS community so much love
-Thanks for featuring these games the way we all passionately feel they should be
-Thanks for taking the time to bring Injustice back to life for a day
-And thanks for just generally being an all-around cool guy.

We love you :)

Thank you for manning up and apologizing for the streaming problems yourself live on stream, props.

I know people were complaining about the stream issues, but everyone that attended had a blast from what I've read. He did a fine job. Not his fault the hotel internet ended up being a dud.

Also, I've seen him on the forums a lot. He truly cares about our community, more so than some t.o.'s.

O captain, my captain!

Vandy is the bar. He brings the hype, he cares about the players and the viewers. He takes full responsibility for his tournament. Someday I hope to make it out to one.

kiT was great no doubt but Panda x Gaming completely screwed the streamers by charging money to watch the past broadcasts. It might have been one of the best majors but it was also one of the worst viewing experiences for the people not there. They did what they could with the bad net in the Hotel.. that isn't the problem.. it was Panda x Gaming.. They completely screwed everything up/.

Thank you for the thread Crimson. I appreciate the love. I do my best to serve this community and every community who is a part of KIT. It seems like everyone at the event really liked it so that part I am proud of.

I wish I could be happy today but there will always be lingering regret surrounding my memory of KIT 2016 all because of the internet situation. I do not buy into the "out of your control" excuse so I'll just say it's my fault as the head of the tournament and I have to hold it. I understand how important the broadcast is as we move into a new era of events and the ball was dropped. I don't know exactly how bad it was watching from home but "disaster", "terrible", and "worst ever" seem to stick out in descriptions I have read. So my apologies to the community and especially to NRS who invested so heavily in this event.

The best I can say is I learned a great deal from my experience and will work hard to make sure next year's event is better in every facet but especially the stream.

@Vandy Don't get us wrong (well me at least) The MKx scene came out very well. NYCfurby did a godlike job with all the problems that were going on. So the MK scene came out on top. KIT was mega hype and while Panda basically meant that hardly anyone could watch SFV (unless live) it was still hella fun for streamers, regardless. Could it have been better.. yes no doubt, not doubt, no doubt. Still even so, it was absolutely off the chain and I think you should be proud.

Besides. this just gives you a bar to jump higher than next time : P

Ah man -- I mean, this wouldn't be the first time it's happened in the last year. And it's happened to some of the most dedicated TOs, including Rick from Combo breaker, who is definitely as serious as anyone I know.

I think people might be exaggerating regarding the degree of severity; obviously, no one ever wants to have a stream drop, but we were still able to see most of the action and things straightened themselves out.

There's no such thing as a perfect event, so the best you can hope for is that the people who come, and those who watch, come away with something memorable that will stick with them. And I can definitely say that watching KiT 2016 was something I'll remember fondly (and be talking about) for some time to come.

Lost my voice helling at my tv. Got to see Kitana in full effect, tears went down my face when Scar played Sonya at the highest level. Maaan ya'll dont understand. My life sucks at times and your devilishly insecure, hyper-hyped filled matchs make me all the more happy. From reads, to yolo shit. It great, yall are great, andI love you all.
